I hate movies where cats/dogs die..... Does the dog die in this movie?

Other than that no spoilers please.

Just saw the add, and I was wondering the axact same thing about the dog. Killing of the pets is such a cheap and cliche thing to do.

(The only time I've seen it done cleverly was in the "Hills Have Eyes" remake. One dog dies, one dog becomes vengeance incarnate.)

Curious how people have no issue with seeing people ripped to bits or kiled in movies but a dog is too much :lol

it's because people feel an instinctual responsibility to protect and care for animals and other innocent creatures that otherwise don't know any better.

It's the same with children. I have no problem with adults blowing each other up, but you kill a child on the screen and it's too much for me.
Unfortunately it's the quickest and best way to get the audience to quickly HATE the antagonist; kill an animal or a child.

I think it's a question of innocence. Most of the time, the humans are sort of "asking for it" (by horror movie cliche standards). They smoke weed, they have sex, they "go in there" when the audience yelled "Don't go in there!", etc. The pets, though, they're innocent. They're just bystanders.

Theres a reason this trope exists people...

Kick The Dog - Television Tropes & Idioms

EDIT- and yes, I agree whole-heartedly with the Hills Have Eyes remake... that dog was viscous! I actually liked that the first dogs death was actually relevant to the plot and used as a clever plot device in how it caused the other dog to develop as a character, and not just a random kill for the camera.

I completely agree.

I've always said that I don't care if 100 people's heads get blown off by Rambo with a Gatling Gun, just don't kill the dog!

One part in American Psycho caught me by surprise and even though it was off camera and sound that was a hideous scene. Otherwise the rest of it was awesome.

I just have a thing with animals that strikes a chord whether it be killing one in a movie that's fake, or cruelty you see on TV with puppy mills and abuse stuff. It's just very sad to me.

I saw this film oN Wednesday night at an advance screening. It is very intense and a worthy sequel. I loved it more than the first one personally.

No spoilers here:

The dog, Abbie, is actually a major character in the film and she does an astounding job of 'performing.' The dog does not die, but that does not mean that she has an easy go of it. Great performance and just remember, NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM.

She was acting. And her performance is great.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!

Couldnt have said it better ...:thumbsup

Besides,, Dogs are better than a large number of bipeds walking the world....

Went to the midnight showing and left 1/4 of the way through, not because of the movie itself, but, the environment.

We had to sit way too close and off to the left, mix that with the heat on, packed theater and the hand-held shooting style, we were both vurping and getting motion sickness.

Add to that a group of friggin' MORONS, who brought their 1 year old and were passing around Family Sized bags of potato chips, between the baby and the package crinkling, I almost caused a scene. :angry:angry:angry

We walked out and got a rain-check for this afternoon.

Now, I love dogs, but if it came down to a baby and a dog...'Ol Yeller is on his own!

Weird that in the previews it shows a dog and a small child in distress, but the concern of the OP is for the animal...very strange...

.

Sorry, haha! Don't mean to come off cold like I'm not concerned for babies. Heck my wife's expecting and we're excited about that, but typically they always go after the animals in movies for that nice low blow to the gut. I think people would make a horrendous big-to-do if they did something hideous to the baby in the way of killing him/her. I pretty much wasn't too concerned about that.

And yeah I know it' all fake, but I don't even like seeing fictitious portrayals of animal deaths like dogs/cats. I'm weird like that I guess...

I hate when Dogs are killed as well. They only one I could think of as a plot device used perfectly was I Legend with Will Smith.

I wouldn't make any bets on whether the baby makes it in this film or not, my friend.

Thanks for the spoiler...
Baby and dog status:
The baby does not die, or get injured.

The dog gets hurt, but doesn't die, you hear it, but don't see it.
