Paragon FX Group / New, licensed prop replicas.

Ha I had to think if I took any while working, I just found these two on my camera roll.

Got to see these props in person at Florida's "Spooky Empire" convention where I was vending. Rylo were extremely nice and super happy to talk to another RPF member (never met another RPF member irl lol).

Got to hold and examine the Blade Runner guns, Batman Grapnel and the Bat 66 radio.

High level first impression review:

  • They feel like legitimate tools in terms of weight, material, hand feel, balance and machinery
  • The Blade Runner specifically felt like a real, well-balanced, firing pistol.
    • Tigger felt strong and responsive.
    • Saw the led light up and be removed to see where the battery went, very well designed
    • Comparing to real pistols I've held/used, this feels awfully real and impressive
  • The Batman Grapnel was very very impressive
    • Another heavy weight that makes a nice mechanical sound when clicking in the different interchangeable parts
    • Comparing it to my SD studios grapnel, this one was bigger and heavier and completely metal from my understanding
      • Again it doesn't feel fragile but more like an actual tool. Like you're holding a power tool if that makes sense
  • The Bat 66 Radio was fun and well designed
    • This feels like a real device begging to have custom electronics put into it
    • The machinery is very well designed with clean lines and solid craftsmanship
      • Antennas come up and the dial enables the light
      • another solid not too too heavy prop
      • Feels like you're holding a fancy walkman from the future lol
Saw their other props on display but my eyes were stuck on the Batman and Blade Runner props. In my experience buying props/replicas, I'm always weary of damaging them from miss handling/dropping them by accident. But holding these in-hand I felt I was handling tools that happened to be props lol. Very impressed with their build quality.

I also bought two Jurassic Parks maps from them which were really cool.

I'm definitely getting the 66 radio first when it's out.

Very kind. Glad you got to check out some props! A pleasure hanging with you too!
We're looking forward to doing more shows soon.

What are the chances we get a Sonar Batarang? I'll literally order two myself. It's a grail.

I've never been able to track down the WB Store version from decades ago.

Any details on the Cylon helmet? Lineage, ETA, functioning visor light? EFX had a screen used helmet on display years ago and they were supposed to make one, but there's never been any development on it.

The best way to stay in the loop is to join the mailer. Join Our Mailing List

We have so many items in various stages of development and production that we have to really plan our updates on a bit of a schedule. There are also studio guidelines that often prohibit me from just throwing random bits of info out there when I'd otherwise love to talk about things. Since we do not do pre-sales, our stuff is usually coming out of production before we really get into specifics.

Again, the major updates hit those on our mailer first.

More soon on the Cylon.

Thanks for asking.

Speaking of Batman props.

The Glyphs are in the country and arriving at our warehouse next week! Here's a quick bench video:

All metal, super clean, great weight...we really enjoyed this project. They are available for order here. Only 750 pieces made:

Heads up! Paragon made 100 of these for the sheer fun of it and they're officially licensed.

(They're real technical mats...made by the same comp who does them for the major arms brands)

Anyway, unclear if we'll do more. Grab one while ya can.

NOTE: The idea really was born of seeing people showing off their BR gear on kitchen table mats, doilies and sofa cushions, etc.
Of course you want to be able to put them on something soft, so there ya go! :p
Aaaand, they make great project mats!
