Papercraft props - Anyway to make them last longer?

thats why i was asking what he was building. i would agree with this and go for slush coats. that way you dont have to worry about with fiberglass at all. just a few minutes of swirling chemicals and youre done.
I've been wondering how to make papercraft props stay too. I'm making a Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts. The only problem I have been having is that I have printed it with the color on it so I'm looking for some way that is clear but will make it so I can take the keyblade to conventions~

A Paper model needs to be sealed , unless you use plastic ( recommended but you need a stencil cutter to really do this justice! ). Sealing just means coating the paper with something that will protect the paper, whilst you add either resin or fiberglass , trying to do either to an unsealed piece of paper is like trying to knit fog !! I use a PVA glue almost any will do the job , use a disposable brush and paint your model inside and then outside with several coats ( two or three coats work best, allow to dry completely before applying the next coat. Then use either resin or fiberglass ( your choice) and do the same - paint a coat of resin or gel on the model and allow to dry completely before repeating - do this until you have built us a hard surface or use fiberglass mating or paper towels inside to build up ( re-enforce) layers until you are happy with the thickness. Then sand smooth , prime and finish as normal . This should preserve your model almost indefinitely - normal wear and tear can be easily repaired by repeating the outline process just on the damaged area. I have a Skywalker Pilot's helmet that's 30 years old - so it will last !!!

I spray all my paper stuff with a light coat of car body varnish. Waterproofs it as well, matt or gloss your choice

There is a product at Home Depot that turns wood to plastic. Maybe this would work. Paper is wood pulp.

yeah, it's Minwax High Performance Wood Hardener.

I've used it on papercrafts before, the project stays flexible, but the hardener turns it waterproof/water resistant and gives it some sturdiness, especially around the joints.

although if i'm looking to harden wood, most days pictures on the internet are more effective than home depot..... :p

Can Teflon be used on card and paper?

I have a wool felt wide brimmed hat that has a Teflon coating to make it water resistant.

Yeah, as mentioned already, coat the inside so the paper does not warp, when dried brush the outside with a resin. Then sand that down. Obviously if your making something that'll be handled more like a gun or helmet you will need more coats of resin
