Hi All,

I tried search but came up empty..

Was wondering if any of you have a technique for painting plastic to resemble old brass? I want to make some fake brass "portholes" and would love some advise!

Thanks guys!

Tyler

Other than maybe antique brass craft paint I have no clue. Not sure how real it looks as i haven't tried it.

i used hammered brass paint and then non shine clear coat, then used shoe polish to age it...

For my Mal pistol, I painted it gloss black and rub 'n buffed the entire pistol. This was more of a worn brass look.

It's pretty easy actually. Really brite gold with a few washs of raw umber thinned with water to get depth. Scrub off with steel wool, back and forth a few times with those steps. That's how I do it anyway.

I am wanting to delve into steampunk and start with my cane. It has a black rubber handle and I was wondering if the techniques would work because the base material is black plastic? ( not meaning to hijack thread, and will start a new one if necessary)
