Painting David Tennant Sonic Screwdriver: Is crackle powder coating a thing?

I have plans to make a replica of the 10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver that I will eventually get to, but before I kick my arse into gear, I have a few questions about painting and whatnot. I know that many different kinds of crackle paint exist, I even know the "proper" brand to get for a sonic screwdriver, but I'm not a huge fan of paint; paint wears off. I want to powder coat my eventual build because in my experience, powder coating is a lot more durable than regular ole paint. SO, my question: does a crackle effect powder coating powder exist? If so, where might I find such powder? If not, are there any tips for achieving the crackle effect with powder coating?

I don't know much about powder coating, except that it has to be baked on at a high temperature. I expect it would depend on what type of metal you are going to make it out of.

Yeah, my eventual plan is to machine it out of aluminum. Powder coating does need to be baked, and the aluminum I use works just fine, and holds its powdercoat really well after baking.
