Hello, Does anydoby here know of any other forums dealing with original movie props and costumes? Thanks, Jeff

There's a few, although the ones I know of are specific to individual movies, like Aliens.

There is one other I know of, but it's membership is strictly invitation only... and I'm not a member ;)

Thank you I will try both of these. I have found it difficult as well to join forums that are by invitaion or recommendation of a memeber only.

I happen to be a member of both, strange that you have not networked having been in the hobby as long as you claim:rolleyes

I was really heavily into original costume collecting about a decade ago and amassed a huge debt from it and wound up having to sell off my collection to pay the debts. So I kept my nose clean after paying my debts for a long time. I've only just recently started to get back into collecting in a safe way. So all the contacts I use to have in this hobby I've lost touch with. Now I have no one to refer me for membership into these private forums

Thank you Aliens archive I went to the two sites you listed and registered there.

If you're serious about collecting, these forums are strongly recommended. Lots of valuable information and reference. Also, access to people-selling-goodies.

Thanks, I applied to both and got accepted to the Movie Prop Forum The Original Prop Community hasn't acknowledged my application.

I've been collecting for 40 years and I still haven't found a "safe" way to do it!

Really? Try this:

1) Research the prop you are interested in extremely well
2) Ask questions to known authorities about said prop
3) Ask questions to the seller that will difinitively give you the what you are asking about
4) Don't ever buy any prop that you have the smallest doubt about

If you follow these simple 4 steps then the odds are with you.

Thanks for posting them up, never knew about them myself. Signed up to both but the funny thing is on the Movie Prop Forum my main email is banned? Strange one that

I'm registered on both (neve knew what I was registered on the original prop forum :p).. But I'm somehow not able to visit the original prop forum, as it says I have no permission to enter it... Weird, weird..

Let me know if anyone has a problem registering for my forum.

Sometimes it take a while to go through the applications.

Make sure you put the rpf as your referrer.

An eyeroll, really? Some of us are too busy with other forums, other subjects, work, family, and actual collecting to "network" with the few closed spots in an otherwise open and expansive hobby. I've been collecting screen-used props for 11 years and posting to online forums for 16 and never felt the need to bother with any forum that isn't as open as this one; there's just too little time in the day, IMHO. :sleep

Ah, but what about the force?:lol

Great words Brad, only wish I followed them all the time!
