Original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car is going up for auction

I am still soooooo surprised that this didn't fetch its estimate and way above. I would have assumed that a Vegas casino owner or the likes would have snatched it up just to put on display in the lobby or something.

That's because 50 year old cars don't get people (mainly guys in their 30's) with disposable income into a casino the way a pool full of scantily clad, inebriated, 20-somethings in bikinis can..... Wet Republic

Yes, way cool - at least I thought so as a kid when I saw the movie at a drive-in! Hope the car went to a good home where it will be on (protected) display.

HI, when i was at school [many, many, moons ago] we had a visit from one of the "Chitty "cars at a school fete, the man who owned it had it in really poor condition, and didnt seem to care about it.I advised him to look after it more carefully [as only a 12 year old can] only to be told to "mind my own b*****, *****NG BUSINESS".
I hope he has seen how much this one went for!In your face idiot!!!

Update - if those who don't know are on the board - it apparently did not sell at the asking price ($1mm) but did sell, privately, for a discount below that number. I have heard rumors it was around $800-850k.

He should make a loop of the Treg Brown motor sound effect and play it continuously when the car is on display. ;)
