Okay seriously. The day is coming and I might do something other than the Sparrow this year, for a night or two. I've been racking my brains with a good quality costume that I can make mostly (sewing, leatherwork, small sculpts and casts), and I can't think of a dang thing! I'd love to do spiderman if I had the cash. (Unless someone is selling a suit maybe sans webbing for cheap). BUt I just can't think of something that is good quality. Nothing like "a ninja" or something. I've been kown as the costume guy around here, and I need something decent. But I just can't think! Normally I go off movies, but other than Pirates, or Spidy, or Transformers there really hasn't been some stant out characters. Anyone? Don't really have intrest in the star wars or star trek right now. Done that too much! LOL! Was considering Batman dead end style suit, but again, done that before. lol. Hoping to keep the price in the $300-$400 range..... Anyone?! :confused

I had this dillema a few weeks ago and just basically had to pluck something out of ether.

Hmmmm... well, let's see. Zombies are relatively cheap and easy to do. You could do a Michael Myers for well within that price range. You could do a 300 type costume, depending on what kind of shape you're in and don't mind freezing your butt off. Joe Friday? Might be a little obscure for people to get.

You could do General Custard. A civil war era costume with a bunch of arrows sticking out of your chest.

Barbosa or Davy Jones?

A ninja?

custard? lol

Myself, was thinking about doing my master chief, but wearing a feather headdress (indian type)

Master Chief... HOW!

Hmmmm I like the Joe Friday idea.... but, very obscure. I hate explaining my costume! lol. I was hoping to be something non generic, but AHH!!! I will be bringing Sparrow out for contests and the such, but I dunno for my indoor parties.. (Jack is quite hot with that wig and all, not to mention the 2+ hours of prep.)...

Yeah, I'm not too sure if younger people would get it even if you said "just the facts...."

I had a friend who liked to use what was the latest big new story. After hurricane Katrina, he covered himself with tattered clothes, fake seaweed and a tiny aligator. Then hung a sign around his neck that said will work for charge card... or something to that effect.

The following year he went as John Karr, the guy who claimed to have kidnapped/killed JonBenét Ramsey. He did his hair similar to his, put on a blue dress shirt and carried a tiny skeleton dressed in a dress and blond wig.

None of these are of course tasteful, but do get a laugh.

I also saw a guy as Steve Irwin at a club with the stingray sticking out of his chest Halloween the same year he was killed (very much like South Park).

He was brought up on stage for the costume contest (and only those of us up there were selected by the staff). Everyone loved it... even though it might have been a bit too soon.

So you could choose something from a current news story and run with that. You could be O.J. or Britney... or that Leave Britney alone kid.

Don't know if you're a trek fan. One year I bought a cheapo red Trek TOS uniform shirt, threw together the pants with some women's boots that would fit me and went as the ultimate dead "Ensign _____" from every landing party.
I had a klingon dagger in my back, phaser burns, purple spots on my face, an alien tentacle wrapped around my neck.
Basically, a red shirt zombie. :cool
It was fun to do although I couldn't sit down, and I hate wearing make-up. Most folks knew what I was supposed to be and why too, which was cool. Even people who don't know Trek that well.
Mine was thrown together, but done right it could be really sweet.

Yeah I'm not the biggest Trek fan. Actually I don't think I've seen more than 10 episodes. :p

I think I've narrowed it down...
Super Troopers - Rabbit or Mac
Reno 911 - Dangle or Junior
Ace Ventura
Robin Hood: Men In Tights - Robin hood
Futuristic soldier with nerf gun painted. :p

Can you tell I just looked at some of my DVD's? lol

And darthgordon, I would never go that chris cocker guy. lol. Not in a billion years. lol

Oh the decisions! THanks everyone for the ideas!

I too was pondering what to do this year. SW has been done in my book for now, until the little ones get a bit older.

went down Super heros previously, and some other Horror flicks too.

Last year went as Criss Angel, as my son was also going as a Magician.

This year, kept with the A&E theme :lol and going as Dog the Bounty Hunter.....:unsure just something easy to do on a budget.

in your price range.. Hrrmm.. lots of possibilities. I do like the Ace though.. Always a party fav if done up right and also give you playability to really goof around and get some laughs.

I've seen a few costumes where all the person did was enlarge a photo of a celebrity and wear it as a mask with appropriate clothing. It even works better if you enlarge it 150% bigger than life size...funnier that way!

Get a Red long wig, braid it in pigtails and stick some wire in it to make it stick out on the sides.. and do the "Wendy's" Commerical thing..

or, get some bendable wire, stick it thru some foam and make the "Arby's" symbol above your head... What are YOU thinking?

Just thinking of some easy ideas, since the Burgerking dude has been a popular favorite.
