Official Ghostbusters PKE Meter Prop

As an avid Aliens fan and collector, I posted a thread on how the Star Trek/Wars fans have it made with all the prepackaged commercially available props.
$60 for a prop is a steal considering what some people do to scratch-build or contract.
Now, if they come out with a $60 proton pack, I will buy a tan jumpsuit and a red/black name tape;)

Glad to hear the collectors were able to all get one. Sorry about the guys trying to re-sell them on e-bay for 5X.

I really wanted one but I wasn't about to schedule my day around ordering one at zero-hour yesterday. It just wasn't worth it.
Now everybody that was freaking out and bought multiples to turn a quick buck are now scrambling to get a refund? :lol (not pointing the finger at you, GuntahKela)
They flooded the market, peeps.
I'll just wait a month and pick one up on eBay for 30.00.

I wonder if it would be feasible to mass produce a pack that would please fans and come in under $800-$1000?

i wish i had this last year when i went and saw Ernie Hudson at the Steel City Con! darn! can't wait to get this!

all the craziness for nothing tho! oh welllll

Well at least this way there might be some discounted PKEs on eBay for all the Europe and UK people who missed out. Hopefully Mattel won't be put off making further props from GB with all this overstock, but I bet they will be.

Well, it's only 26 hours since they went on sale, so i'm sure they'll all be gone by christmas. If the rumoured trap comes out, i would be over the moon if it has a pedal and it comes in under $150.

I got one yesterday. After all the panic, it literally only took me 5 minutes of watching the flashing white screen. No big deal.

I agree about the scalpers getting a just reward on this one. But... I noted earlier Mattel really wants to sell these in masses as noted at SDCC. So it would make sense they should still have a good back stock. The real issue for collectors is getting them in hand before Christmas.

With mass production even on a smaller scale, i don't see why not. With high end parts, I built my two packs for under 800 and a majority of the cost was the higher end shells that should not cost so much for Mattel to make. I am sure as well most of the parts are going to be made with cheaper but high impact plastic which will look good but keep the cost down lower. Given how well they have done with the PKE, I think they can do it for a couple hundred, it really comes down to the detailing and number produced. IF they can time it to the next movie release, I think they will be able to do a great balancing job with the production numbers and quality.

Yeah, maybe I set the figure high, I was just thinking about that pulse rifle that just came out...but then when you factor in the alice frame...i dunno, it would be interesting, but I doubt it would ever happen.

I doubted the PKE would ever happen.

The comicon reps were allowed to say that a trap and pack could be in the future. I am pretty sure that the company would have told them NOT to even suggest it if they didn't have plans.

It's like how actors are usually told by studios how much they can divulge about the plot of their upcoming movie.

from what i've read, the big issue with a pack replica is that there is a blurred line between prop replica, toy and costume. with the alice pack/straps, it's considered a costume item because it can be worn. something like that...

my fingers are crossed for a trap/pedal or goggles. i would LOVE to see a geiga meter, but i'm really doubting it.

I completely forgot about this yesterday, and went online today during lunch on my iPhone.. hehe. After all the horror stories on here, I was stunned to find they were still available. I ordered two, and NOT for resale.. I have a friend who's a huge GB fan who's getting the other one for Christmas. :)

I agree about the scalpers getting a just reward on this one.

Those looking to flip for instant big profits might be getting their just rewards, but as for the true scalpers not really... True scalpers will just sit it out, the minute they go out of stock at Matty the price will jump just like every other item Matty sells... Most of the GB figures have lasted more then a few days on the site before selling out, and that certainly didn't hurt the scalpers as by the time they got them in their hands they were sold out and the price was climbing 2 or 3 fold on eBay...

If you bought extra just hang on to them until Halloween next year, You'll get your money back I'm sure.
