Hello. Does anyone have the Off World Blade Runner Blaster that they can comment on? I am after an accurate replica but don't want to pay $275 wihtout some idea that it is a good copy. I see there is a model C version now. Any comments on that specifically?

Any better replicas out there now?

Thanks, Mark

It's pretty much the place to go for BR prop info. Lots of good people over there.

Pretty sure these are the guys who Recast Matsuo's Equlibrium Cleric Guns and his BSG Blaster.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit. I had to file a claim on them via Paypal when I purchased the BR. Then it just showed up in a box. No apologies for slack service or anything.

Spike, I believe it was Monsters in Motion who did that.

No, i'm talking about the guys who recast his kits and hacked them up into airsofts, pretty sure I have PM's from him about it somewhere.

Re: Off-world BSG Blaster
Yep that's recast of my older kit, it's been around for a while, funny thing is that the one I make now is more accurate and it's cheaper, good luck on them if they can sell them at that price... maybe I should raise my prices LOL

THANKS for all the info!!!

Ah, yeah. I just found another thread about the Cleric guns. So, Off-World did do it, as did MiM... We're both right, unfortunately.

Offworld did it. Monsters in Motion sold it.

The Offworld BR blaster is a decent replica for costuming because it is durable, and has working lights. It is made from a few different sources including the Harftord guns for the Steyr parts, and an earlier resin gun also sold at Monsters in Motion, that also used parts from Rich Coyle's old guns. That is why the grips are undersized I believe. The base gun is also made from a real Charters Arms Bulldog 38sp, as was the resin version. It's main problem though, is plastic an all of the wrong places which make it pretty light weight and toy feeling. The cylider also does not sit in place well and will open pretty easily. The early version also copied Rich Coyle's old paint scheme with metallic flake paints, which look more Star Trek than Film Noir.

The price is still pretty close to that of a resin kit though, and it can be upgraded to look pretty nice. Still, I wouldn't buy any from Offworld anymore knowing their source material now though.

Coyle is making an (almost)all metal version which is the only other option being made right now, but Tomenosuke is teamed up with Marushin to make a PFC version in the next year or so, but expect it to be pretty pricey. Also there might be a chance Rick Ross's PKD-2 might make a comeback soon.

If only I could win the lottery. Making all-metal, CNC machined props would be my gig..
A 5-axis CNC would do the job nicely...

Note: That Tomenosuke BR is NICE! I can imagine what the PFC version will be like. Have they announced what blanks it will fire?

Interesting read guys. I've got one of these that I refound when I moved. I got it some years ago and put it in my closet. When I recently moved, I opened the box and there it was.

Not into the BR stuff too much anymore, so now I'm wondering what to do with it. :love

I picked up one not to long ago, didn't have any sales problems and shipping was extremely fast. I think the Off World blaster looks great but the grip could be a bit larger and there is more plastic than I expected. However, in all my research I haven't found a BR gun I could afford that wasn't a solid resin piece of junk.

For the price I'm happy and I'll soon start making changes to the blaster. Hope this helps!

Here are the photos of my blaster, notice that the upper receiver wont fully slide back. Also the handle isn't as bright orange as the photos look, the flash sort of lights it up.

I think my two main complaints are the slide in the upper receiver and revolver chamber is plastic (I'll probably replace it) But once again I'm happy for what I paid!

As Andy pointed out, the grip on the OWM BR is smallish for average hands. The gun rattled too much for my taste also. It just had a toyish look and feel to it.

Too bad Sid passed on and no more SIDKITs are coming.

I had one briefly. The handle isn't big enough to hold it comfortably. The cylinder cover was rattley. The auction said they would accept returns but the auction failed to mention a restocking charge. Why there would be a restocking charge is a mystery since the gun box had no seal that would be broken. Offworld was somewhat snippy during the refund conversation and then a few weeks later had the gall to offer more products(basically spam).

I think $55 would be fair price for the quality that I recieved. They should also add the note regarding the restocking fee(if they have not done so already) and not spring on you after the auction.

Amen to that…

Sid's old partner Michele still flogs metal versions on the bay every now and then. I see there's one up there now..

Best

There have been a few problems with shipping of the metal Sidkits sold by Michele. I have heard of at least two that never arrived, and never refunded. I would be very wary of purchasing from him unless you are in the EU and can have a recourse in case of issues.

The bolt on the real prop doesn't slide back very far either. There's a screw in there to retain it.
