The helmet started off as a hockey helmet IIRC, the same ones modified for Tron.

The jumpsuits were custom (or at least customized) and although I can remember it being said on the audio commentary for one of the discs (which one escapes me, I've got three different versions of the movie) that the vests were a found item from a local police supplier from Dallas, where the movie was filmed, I haven't been able to back it up or find the quote on the commentary, so they may have been completely custom.

Check out RoboCopArchive.com, on the boards there's a gal by the name of murphy38 who owns almost every RoboCop item you could think of, from screen-used armor to production notes to lunchboxes; she owns a few jumpsuits, which she's had replicated by a seamstress. She may be able to hook you up with some reference material. She's French, however, so be clear in your communication. She's a great girl, she'll help you any way she can.

It said in Cinefex that it was off-the-shelf, "from a company named SWAT Viper". Hope that helps a little.

Well, that would explain why I've been unable to find that note in the audio commentary... my Criterion edition DVD has the complete Cinefex article on the film included, but I've had trouble getting the issue itself on eBay, so it's not something I can casually flip through.

I've got a couple of pieces from #3. A Nancy Allen jumpsuit and a Level 3 (I think) Rehab officer...the ones with the hard-shell body armor over the jumpsuit.

I'll drag 'em out tomorrow and see if I can find any tags...

Steve

please do any info on these costumes would be of great help...

Well this may be some good news for the vests. I too am very interested in doing a OCP cop uniform and a quick search online revealed this thread in a Robocop forum.

It appears that someone did make the vest at one point. His name is Spatcave and you can go to his website which he has linked in his messages and maybe ask if he can do a vest for you. If so I'd be willing to get one as well. Maybe we can talk him into a small run or something.

The helmet that she is wearing while giving the drug to the robot is acctualy a police riot helmet. We have ton´s of these down at the station they are old probably since 1970s.

I've been researching the R1-OCP costume for about a year now. The helmet seems to be sourced from a "COOPER SK 2000 S" hockey helmet. There was something different about the normal version and the 'S' version that made me want to hunt down the 'S' version, but I didn't write a note down about the difference for some reason.

The movie used helmets look to be vacuumfomed over a mold of the real-world helmet, as there is no visible front/back seems that make up the Cooper helemt, also the front rivets of the Cooper helmet seems to be part of the vacc-molding.

There is a vacuumformed detail piece covering/hiding the ear flaps of the Cooper helmet. PRobably custom made by the costume deptartment.

The visor of the movie used helmet looks to be a sheet of thin Plexi or PETG just bolted to the temple regions of the helmet. It could very well be a preformed visor from something, but I see no mold etchings to indicate a make/model of a professionally made visor.

I've got my doubts that the vests were off the shelf items- A few years after the movie, I saw some really horrible, direct-to-video sci-fi movie where a couple characters were wearing the exact same vests, but in a sort of gunmetal, glittery fabric. :confused

Hello,

I got Nancy Allen's shot up jumpsuit and a police helmet. Both screen used and in my collection for many years. THe jumpsuit is indeed from swatviper. They were made with some modifecations for production. Recently some have surfaced but I doubt they are original. The helmet is made from the same ice hockey helmet model used in TRON. But there are vacuum and resin formed parts on it.

Still looking for a vest. I think they were custom made. (but indeed re-used in some tv shows.

The belt has been id-ed by a member here and can still be ordered. I no longer have that info so I hope the member steps in.

At this time I got no good pics but when I do I'll post them is wished.

Greetings from the Netherlands,

BasD

Trooperprop,

Which movie did your jumpsuit come from Robo 1, 2 or 3?

How thick is the material for the jumpsuit and the vest? Getting a close match for material weight really makes a difference in the way the material drapes over the body.

What pieces are resin cast and vacuumformed on the helmet? Identifying these would help make a more accurate replica.

Thanks for any insite you can give,

Jeff

Hi,
The jumpsuit is from robocop 1 (I only collect Paul Verhoeven related props these days)
I do not have a vest ...yet.
The ear pieces are made of resin on the helmet the rest is vacuumformed.

Greetings,

BasD
