NuBSG Long Range Radio - Finished- now with pretty pictures!

I can finally stamp this project done.
It's been a lot of fun making this thing and I learned a lot!

I sanded, prepped, painted, and glued the grill I had 3D printed from shapeways on to my hero radio; I think the results speak for themselves!

I'm really happy with the way it came out and wanted to share with you all some pictures I took. I staged it to look like a Raptor pilot bug out bag. Yes I know the gun would be strapped on the pilot but then it wouldn't make for a good picture now would it.

A close up of the radio detail, I absolutely love how this came out. It just looks cool. :cool

Any ways thanks for the kind comments you all have left. I hope to finish up another BSG related project sometime soon!

Thanks! I got the gun from a member here and I honestly couldn't tell you who made it. For sure it isn't a Matsuo, I'd love to get one of those! :love

Cheers! :cheers

Looks really good and I think this is the first project of yours I've seen done lol. I agree the weathering is spot on.

I have one of his S1 clambshell kits with the aluminum dust embedded in the resin. Of course, it's still in the box. Looking over his builds, I just knew I wanted it to look that good and was afraid I could never do it. I intimidated myself into procrastination.

Thanks guys!
It did feel to good to get this thing done for myself. Haven't had much time to do that lately!

jheilman: get that blaster done, it does you no good to have it sit in a box!

I love this! I've been on a huge NuBSG kick recently and when I saw this thread I was just all "OOOOOHS and AHHHHS". There is a lot of detail in something that seems probably so simple at first glance and it really shows through. Awesome Job!

Thanks! I'm the kind of guy that loves little switches knobs and doodads on props, so this one was a joy to build.

But!
These radios were deceptively costly! Here's a quick price breakdown:

For each radio
Radio: $10
Aerospace Extractor Antenna: ~$22
Lathed Antenna: ~$7
Grill: ~$12

Split between the two:
Ribbed rubber anti slip mat: ~$20
Roll of Grip tape: $12
Various LED's and sockets: $7.00

So yea, all those details certainly add up!

I'm a new member been lurking the RPF for a while.

I'm building a BSG Long Range Walkie Talkie and noticed this thread in my search for a grille.

My walkie talkie is actually all finished except for the grille and I was wondering if anyone could share the Shapeways file that was used in this thread for the grille with me. I'm old school when it comes to that stuff and have never used or designed a 3D print job. Have always just fabricated parts myself but the 3D print of the grill looks like a good way to go on this project. Searching the Shapeways site I wasn't able to find the file to order one of these from them.

I tried to message the OP but it appears he is no longer active here and his in box is full.
