Now that is very interesting...

I have just read the thread 'Arc Reactor Fraud on Ebay' started by MattMurdockYLW. Sadly I now sit open mouthed at the nerve of the guy. If you are wondering, I shall explain.

22nd of June this year MattMurdockYLW offered a Fettster Ironman helmet in the Junkyard. I pm'ed him my interest and a price of $260 was agreed and paypaled to him within a day or two as he said he was in desperate need for the cash. Since then several pm's have gone back and forth between us with the usual result of ' Oh, I couldn't get it posted due to work'. His last post to me was about the weekend and he said it would be posted the next day. On every single occasion I have requested tracking info for the package and recieved nothing, zip, nada.

After three weeks of this I have resorted to contacting Paypal and opening a dispute but this itself could be confusing as MattMurdockYLW stated himself ' This isn't my Paypal address, it's a mates until mines up and running'

I have pm'ed MattMurdock and also messaged the owner of the Paypal address to try and sort this out, if this is a genuine seller then why am I getting no response. MattMurdock seems to believe he has a moral obligation to point out a fraud on Ebay, correct me if im wrong but doesn't offering an item for sale, being paid, and not delivering the item consitute fraud. MattMurdockYLW, if you read this, check your pm's. If the admins wish to look at the pm's I have sent and recieved from MattMurdockYLW to confirm what I have stated, please do.

Sorry I was just standing up for him thats all. I felt it needed to be done.
What you are saying is true, I wont dispute that. I had issues with the helmet and wanted to fix them before I shipped it.
I probably shuold have said that up front but did not notice them until going to package it.

As I said You will be taken care of, the helmet is on it's way and I will get you tracking when I can
and it does include an arc reactor a friend gave me, I have just been very busy thats all.

Firstly, standing up for a friend who has been wronged is a fine virtue, one I would like to think is held by all of the members on this forum.
As for the issues with the helmet, all you needed to do was let me know, it's not like I'm a stranger to car body filler and wet and dry paper. I think the main problem has been a simple lack of communication which has led to frustration getting the better of me. If the comments I have made have put you in a bad light then I apologise, but look at it from my angle and I think most would get a bit wound up.
The addition of the arc reactor is generous and will be a welcome addition to the collection, thank you.
I shall remove the Paypal dispute as soon as you supply the tracking info and this unfortunate problem can be finally resolved.

We should have some kind of rating or feedback system on here, with the amount of bad deals going on.

It certainly puts me right off dealing with any of the other members who have stuff up in the junkyard, I know the guy says he's busy but come on, in a couple of days time it will be ten days since the member stated that the item was in the post. It has gone horribly quiet again.

So....what are my options, suck it in and take a $260 kick in the ass, or give the guy a few more days before escalating the dispute to a claim, if that would do any good. Either way it ain't going to be a happy ending. :unsure

Well, I got a pm from MattMurdockYLW letting me know he was going to go down to the UPS office and sort out that tracking info.......that, was two days ago.

The deadline for the paypal dispute runs out on the twentyeth, I shall be escalating to a claim on the morning of the day before.

To avoid this, he knows what to do. Jeez, never imagined this much hassle buying something from the junkyard.

Unfortunately,It's the rotten apples that ruin it for the rest. I hope this problem doesn't sour you on doing junk yard business. Most folks here are honest and 99.9% of sales work like they are supposed to.

Rating system I feel would be a waste of time. Reputation is all you really have. Even then there are no promises. I've seen people with sparkling reputations do a run and end up dissapearing with folks' money for various reasons. I've purchased items from people with less tha 25 posts and have been very happy with the transaction.
Sometimes you just have to take a chance. You want a guarantee that you'll never be screwed? Don't buy anything over the internet again. :unsure

Agreed on the feedback system, hopefully you like that phaser still Funky lol,

I did have my doubts on dealing with you :lol

There always is a risk with dealing online, sometimes you just have to do the best you can and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

its all about chance here , i have lost on two transactions , one from a newer member and one from a long time member , its all luck of the draw

As I stated, the 19th has arrived, the helmet hasn't, and no sign of any tracking info.

The dispute has now been escalated to a claim, so lets see where that gets me.

As I suspected this little venture into prop collecting turned out sour. After filing a claim with paypal against the owner of the paypal address MattMurdock LYW gave me, I have been informed by Paypal that they find in my favour but are unable to recover any money from that account, and it being unlikely that any refund will be forthcoming.

So, to Paypal....thanks for nothing you toothless fleabag.
To MattMurdock LYW, congratulation for making a trusting person now consider anyone who sell items in the Junkyard to a be a lying crook. I shall spend my hard earned cash elsewhere....:angry
