in the interest of not hijacking almar's thread i'll break this off on its own.

Nothing wrong with [Parks'] clamps it's the guy making them.

i make my own sabers mostly so this could be problem. is there a non-Parks source for replica parts and EL conversion kits? i love being able to detach the blade.

There are many who retrofit the FX sabers with luxeon leds. There are also other options like the hyperdyne blade.

I too would like to build my own working saber and I confess I do not know the best place to look. Perhaps another member could point us in the right direction as I believe there are entire forums dedicated to this same cause.

ooooooo...
everything i've ever needed short of a metal lathe.

thanks Dann.

has anyone bought an EL blade from them? how do they compare to the ones Parks offers as far as brightness, durability, etc?

No problem, man. :)

Sorry don't know much about the EL blades. Why not go with a Luxeon LED? Much brighter and you can still remove the blade.

The Custom Saber Shop is a great place to do business with. Just keep in mind though that if you have a problem with supporting Parks, don't buy the the replica Graflexes, MPPs, and corresponding clamps, as they are Parks. Everything else in the TCC is fantastic though. I'm still waiting for them to restock their metal Anakin RotS Luxeon socket kits so I can upgrade my FX. And one of these days when I have the cash to burn, I plan on getting the kit to upgrade my double bladed Maul FX. It's a bit pricey due to needing twice as many components.l

actually, i already have a Graflex saber(made from a real Graflex

) so most of what i buy is grips and buttons anyway. replica flashguns are too expensive anyway, so i'll keep haunting the usual places for a Hieland.

While EL sabers are great for dueling, they just don't compare to the brightness of a Luxeon powered saber. Luxeons are also great for dueling as there are no electronics in the blade itself. EL sabers may look good in pictures but in person they are just not that bright. No offense to any EL fans out there. I have had all types except for the Hyperdyne system.

On a side note, I thought Parks got his Graflex from a company in China that has the tooling? I do know the back story on the MPP though.

Yeah... I would suggest the people on Fx-Sabers....

A LOT of sabersmiths.... used to converting, tips, customs advice, years of experience, etc. Many have kits too I believe, to help with existing sabers (perhaps with your Graflex)
