Non-cosplay, purely for carnaval || Jet fighter pilot

Our percentage rates of those that make it aren't that high either but the system you have is bunk.

Without Air Cadets or Air Force ROTC the average kid doesn't sound like they have much of a chance since it is as if they must already have the skills of a rated aviator.

Yet, I will say in flight school, we have "testable blocks" so you can get a total score of 94% on a written exam and still fail because of one block due to the structure of the testing.

Yet, under your system Chuck Yeager would have never got off the ground. :sick

We still have 68 pilots flying F-16's and more flying Apaches and Chinooks. It IS doable. The Dutch are known for their good pilots and this is why. Only the very best make it and our groundschool + Flight school are more than just elementary, even though we call it elementary flight school. Some American instructors told us they were happy to teach Dutch pilots because they understood well and were well trained... *sighs* I won't be a pilot but at least I'll be in the airforce.

Still, I would love to do it and the two years of America would be fun because I have an american friend stationed in Sheppard, Texas. And I would SO join conventions. The RNLAF will pay me to leave lol.
Paying a trip to the US is going to be a LOT. And IF I go, I will go for months and visit several cons and friends I've met.

AAAAANYWAY the suit should arrive this week and I ordered this helmet:
Motorcycle/Scooter Air-force helmet

Nice helmet reminds me of the one I used to wear on my scooter. I could eat a sandwich at 50 mph with that thing on. And yes the scooter was modified ;)

Not yet, it has been shipped. From china to the Netherlands is a while. The overall came in but I got the flu that day and been out for several days. Still recovering ans slowly starting to eat again. I will make a new picture of me in the overall when I'm back home and healthy.

I do need a tip. I weigh 49.7 kilo's now after the flu. Usually I'm around 50. I need to gain weight(preferably in muscles) fast. I don't look like i'm underweight, but it is a fact. Fast metabolism isn't really helping. I train three times a week(if I can). How do I do it?

When I needed to bulk up for Hockey.... I ate five times a day, slightly smaller meals but lots of milk and lean meat, as opposed to three regular meals.
While working out lots of water and a power bar. Also after working out I would have an protein powder and ice cream milk shake.
Stopped using the elevator, went exclusive on the stairs plus wore wrist and ankle weights under my uniform during the day. That really added to climbing the stairs.

I'm not 100% fit yet, but good enough to work and live normally, but not strong enough for training yet. Eating keeps being a problem in the morning. That's when I notice I've been ill with the flu. Ticks me off, but so be it. Anyway, here's the overall. It's a bit big, but that's no problem, because I can wear lots of layers underneath it to keep me warm.

Swayyyy~

I can't wait to get the helmet in, paint it over and fix the oxygen mask!

Helmet arrived! This weekend I'll suit up. The helmet will be repainted and modded. The oxygenmask needs to be made though. Thinking of casting the one I have already. Or buy another one, might be cheaper, and mod it with a vacuum hose.

It fits comfortable. A tad big but I can live with that.

I repainted the helmet to be more real and have some weathering. I can remove the cap in front. I'm not so sure about doing that now though since I'd like to protect the visors. However, on the days itself I could remove it easily.

I see you changed your avatar. Your uniform looks great, just need an ALSE vest. With your service cap need to start calling you red air. :darnkids

Be careful or you will earn yourself the call sign "Flow".

If you still want remove the hard cover and have a single visor foro have a more HGU look to your helmet, try making or getting a 'Lens Cover, Visor, Gray Leather [PN 82C5701] NSN: 8475-01-142-9187'.

I was trying to be polite but... yeah... a person's callsign is not usually overtly bad or embarrassing just the story behind them.

I know. His case was exceptional. We have another gag, but the joke isn't funny in any other language than Dutch. Anyway, I thought about that cover. Not sure about it. I think I'll concentrate on the oxygenmask first. I'm really bothered by it.

Your costume looks pretty good so far although I think you kind of over did it with the weathering, it doesn't so much weathered as scratched to hell. I'd suggest lightly misting some paint over the scratched areas so it doesn't quite so scratched up or at least so deliberate.

The mask looks pretty good, to take it to the next level all you need to is add some straps to the side so it attaches to the helmet, you can buy the parts needed for the helmet online but I don't know about the mask parts, you may have to fake it somehow. The only other thing that would help take it to the next level would be to add the mice wire and attachment doodad. If you look a pictures of pilots with their masks on you'll notice a piece of black plastic in front of the nose area with a wire trailing along the hose from it, that (I think) is the mic wire and attachment piece. Not a big thing but if you manage to add it it would make for a nice, subtle addition that would add to the realism of the costume.

The last thing is indeed something I'm planning to do. :) just lack the funds to go on at this moment.

Where are you going this carnaval? are you staying in Nijmegen or are you going somewhere else?
