If you can show me your proof of purchase from him I may be able to provide you my modified file in psd format, I won't however share it unless there is that proof of purchase, because it is his intellectual property.

He doesn't have to provide proof, he has a copy but I couldn't help him with what he wanted after I tried explaining it to him a few times. You may help him if you can

There may be an actual issue with the Jpg you've uploaded. I couldn't open it directly in Photoshop, but it would open in Preview (built in Mac image viewer) and then I was able to resave it. Odd, just a heads up.
