Ninja Turtle Build

I've wanted to create a ninja turtle costume for a couple of years now. So with a new home which means more space, I'm able to start creating the costume. I'm starting off with Mikey's head then will move onto the body. I will be doing all four turtle heads in the long run. I'm aiming to have it fully completed prior to Halloween next year; so far I think I have a nice early start on it. Mikey's head is pretty much finished, just need to finish up around the eyes and a few touch ups here and there prior to molding. I’m aiming to mold it this weekend and hopefully have a successful pull this weekend as well. Let me know what you guys think so far.

Thanks, I'm refinishing a few spots, ill post the updated pictures tomorrow. Once the head sculpt is finished ill be sculpting the inside of his mouth as a seperate piece that will be inserted later on.

Ive decided to wait on molding for a week or two. After observing the final sculpt I wasn't very happy with the method that I textured the skin. so I smoothed out the mask and am now awaiting for the new texture stamps to arrive. Hopefully they will arrive before christmas. If not, look for an update by the 27th.

Almost finished with the turtle head, been waiting almost two weeks for the texture stamps to arrive. Ups says they will be here on the second. So decided to move onto the arm and possibly the upper torso tonight. Here's a photo of how the turtle arm is shaping up so far.

Looking good! I think the hands were the most fun to sculpt. The head is fun too but the most challenging. Advise: Add 2 or 3 inches of length to each piece for good measure. When fitting the excesses can be removed.

Looks like you need to pop in a movie! Makes the time go by faster:)

Thanks dericrw, your build has helped a lot for reference. Since posting the above pictures, I added a bit more length to the arm just in case. And I agree the arm has been the most fun so far. And lol yeah that does tend to help. Usually pop in the turtle movies for reference. Looking forward to tomorrow, the texture stamps arrive and I can update everyone with the textured look on both the arm and head then molding should start this weekend.

My sculpt next to a replica that was from a supposedly ninja turtles 3 mold that I picked up on ebay a few years ago. Maybe I'm biased but I think mine looks better lol

Started working on the turtle torso tonight. Have to heat the clay with a blowdryer slightly to apply texture and with the wife in bed not the best idea lol so will have to wait til tomorrow to finish the texture on the arm and head.
