Nightstalker Burning Man Figure

I am trying to make a Burning Man figure from Nightstalker.
I tried Sculpy and wax but neither is working very well. Right now I am leaning toward non-hardening clay. Does anyone have recommendations for what to make the master figure from?

Update: 10/13
I picked up some embossing tools when I got the non-hardening clay and they are working out very nicely on the Sculpy. So that will make the mold-making process much easier as I won't have to worry about deforming the master.
