NEW TREK COSTUMES; Poss SPOILER

Just watched an interview with Anton Yeltcin (Chekov) and he let a little something slip about the costumes.
"The ending was really kind of epic and we're all standing there together in our red, blue and gold..."
So, it sounds like what we've seen before are not the CREW uniforms...

Uhhh... yeah. James Cawley who's known for The New Voyages and something of purist with costume and set design has said he did a small walk on roll and that the costumes were perfect.

I've heard a few others involved say that they are amazingly well made and will make the fans happy.

I've never really thought for one second that those spy shots show the crew uniforms. They appear to be cadet uniforms of some kind.

I'm a little curious as to what they chose for the command color though. Since there's a bit of a debate as to whether it should be green or mustard yellow.

Well, in the latest info we meet George Kirk who is 1st Officer aboard another ship, the USS Kelvin, so this thing REALLY seems generational and Im guessing we'll see uniforms evolve.
I agree that I thought the previous costumes were 'cadet-ish' and now it appears that the Starfleet arrowhead was universally worn prior to TOS...

Even in TOS it was just the Enterprise's specific logo, as each ship was to have her own. It was simply retconned into the Starfleet logo after the fact, so there have been lots of changes made to uniforms, etc., simply because of its perception rather than the reality. Same way the green velour read as mustard/gold on screen and so the third season fabric was changed to reflect this perception.

That is an "urban myth". The command shirts were NEVER green (with the exception of Kirk's wrap). Surviving examples show a gold color with a green tint. The lighting and film stock changed the color on-screen.

I should have said "greenish", it still had a green tint that was all but annihilated by the film stock.

It shows up as more green in the remastered episodes where the picture has been cleaned up.

Not shot for shot, but close enough

You ever seen an original tunic in regular light. They are more green than gold.
