New Sideshow Avp Scar Statue

Sideshow have really let themselves down with there new line of predator statues i think. The poses and the paintwork is way below average, especially the berserker predators. Just throwing them out there just to make a quick $$$. And the prices you pay for them are ridiculous for what you get. Personally i think Neca have done them selves proud with figures they have brought out. Ok there not statues but the paint jobs and the sculpt on them are mind blowing for what you pay for. Hot toys... very good sculpts but the prices are way to high i think. Anyway i shall not be getting the scar one. The Elder maybe. We shall see. Rant over.

I think Scar is the most bland of the AvP designs and these budget quality statues are just not worth what they go for. That post isn't cool either, and I hate how all the dreads on this statue and others from the same 'line' all seem to be one clump. Just looks wierd, maybe it's just me.

Yeah since it is all in one clumped dreads which I know Kenner did the same thing with their line of Predators, but I think that was mainly the technique on how to mold them and cast these guys has gotten better. Granted yes I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but the fact that this is a statue and not an action figure the dreads would be at least more divided I know they were able to do that with the 1/2 scale Wolf statue. Yet I don't know if size, which I'm sure has a lot to do with it.

The other thing you would have to consider what type of a collector you are as well if you go more for the figures as oppose to the statues or the other way around. Everyone has their prized collectibles props, figures, or all of the above. If a person is into the statues they will definitely get the statute regardless of price.

Yeah of course that's true. Each to there own. Me, i try and get my hands on whatever i can afford, it being a figure or a statue. Its just a few sideshow pieces have been a bit of a let down recently. I think if you are gonna go for figures then Neca is the place to go. For statues i would say Narin, and paint them up yourself. I know its a bit more expensive to get them painted up professionally but i think its more worth it than getting a sideshow piece.

Yeah same here. I do want a statue and I hoping that this may be better than what this picture is giving us right now. If that be the case then I want to make sure I get the smallest number possible according to Casey Love being since his studio painted the legendary scale P2 bust the lower the number the better the quality which makes sense as far it's value at that point.

Well, my chime in is this... It is a PREDATOR related item. I am a collector of many things PREDATOR related, but I know when something isn't worth the purchase price and I know when I see a product that isn't created with that special something that makes it a piece I want in my collection.

If one is just buying it to say they have it, and not buying it because it actually appeals to them is their decision to make. Personally, if I am buying a high end, high priced item... I want that piece to be worth it in every single way. Not just a really great sculpt only for it to seriously be lacking in the paint dept and what not (of course, I believe most collectors see it this way?).

As for me... I have a few busts that I purchased back before I really knew what QC was and thought they were just the coolest, but now see that they could use a J. Dunaway touch to them, lol. As for the figures... love them! Always have loved my action figures. From He-Man when I was a young child through today with the NECA figures. I mean, they have really come a long way from the days of only 5 points of articulation in a small 5-6" figure to upward of 20+ points. That is really saying something about the generations of fans who grew from being the ones playing with the stuff to creating it.

All in all... collect what you want, how you want, when you want. You dabble... Cool. You're a hard core fanatic that must have every single piece and will go broke for them... that's cool too. But the bottom line is and always will be... Collect what you love.

Amen to that Reyals like I'm not going to lie. I really want to get all of the bios from Sideshow and the weapon props as well. I'm living in my car right now as we speak mainly because of personal reasons, but maybe with all the money I'm saving right now I can afford to own one Sideshow piece. I hope that with the up coming pics maybe this statue will be the first thing that will be it or the Elder bio I got my eyes on.

That Elder Bio from SSC is pretty sick. Hell, if I could afford something like that... I'd buy it.

Although, in the same instance, I would likely go as far as having one commissioned and owning a "one of a kind" plus pay a bit extra for more of a wearable piece rather than just a displayable piece. That of which is more than likely going to be of higher caliber then the mass limited run ones.

Well the gallery of the statue has been uploaded by sideshow (see original post) and I have to say that I was pretty impressed with the different accessories that you get with this statue two different spears, an alien shield, and a removable bio helmet (still not crazy about the sculpt of it). The base of the statue is pretty cool looking (No pun intended there ). I think this would be a cool looking piece to have on display.
