New RPF artwork thread

re: New RPF "artwork" thread

A lot of those pieces remind me of a book I had when I was little called "Forbidden Planet" ... very Heavy Metal feel to it, mixed with cyberpunk. I likes it.

I haven't gotten a chance to sculpt any props or lifesize stuff just yet, but here's some stuff I've sculpted on a smaller scale.

Getting stoked for the upcoming movie(s), so started doodling this on my lunch-break the other day. Printer paper & a CD Labeling marker. I liked the shape of the dragon so much that I decided to detail it at home with a ballpoint.

DS, such a fan of your work... great stuff!

Has anyone here tried out (or know about) the Motion Computing LE1700 Tablet?

It's out of production, but seems to be a favorite amoung graphic artists due to it's a) Affordability, b) Similar to an IPad, but has a Wacom Digitizer Screen, c) It's a full fledged computer that runs Windows (people have also installed Mac OSs on them) and uses regular applications, and it's portable.

I picked one up myself after doing research on a Cintiq alternative and I'm loving this thing!

I'm using Sketchbook Pro, Artrage3, Illustrator and Photoshop and it's been a dream!

I'll post some of what I've done later, but I figured I'd mention it. I mean, a portable touch/pressure sensitive tablet for artists is something I'VE always wanted, so I figured some others would be too!

Check out (and I'm not promoting anything in particular or gaining anything for mention any of this) this link to see what people are doing with these.

LE1700 - portable cintiq - IT WORKS! - now with video! - ConceptArt.org Forums

And a video of it in use:

LE1700 - YouTube

I guess they were designed for engineers and other people on the go who need a fully functioning computer without needing a keyboard/mouse, but wow does this do the job for us graphic artists as well!

They sell on Ebay for anywhere between $250 - $450.

So glad I found this!

re: New RPF "artwork" thread

Kurt let me use the LE1700 for an illustration here at work, and I was gushing about it when I went home. The feel is great - very organic and natural. The price is great, too. I'd recommend the faster processor based on a bit of lag (Kurt's expressed an interest in upgrading his already) on hi-res images, but what a great find this thing was!!! I hadn't had so much fun drawing since I was a kid.

Can anyone recommend any good sketching apps for the Ipad and a stylus?

I was going back and forth but decided on the Artrage app. I also picked up the Wacom Bamboo stylus. So far, digging them both!

Got to dig up some of my 'real' art; during the meanwhile, please enjoy these offerings I'm going to inflict on you. :D
Made with Photoshop 5, so I apologize for the quality.

Due to the sizes, I'm putting them up in thumbnails.
