Heck, the biggest tell as to the sidewall origin being MPC is the molded in slot for the light switch which was present on the very first MPC kit. There are indeed 5 footer Falcon elements in this kit with the most obvious being the shortened cockpit nose. Overall it looks good though and not a bad deal for 20 bucks. It won't break the bank, can look great after something as simple as a more accurate paintjob is thrown on it and yet it offers possibilities for more advanced modelers to really trick it out. On thing I like is we finally... FINALLY have a Revell kit with close to proper sidewall height. So they did a nice job here.
Looking at footage of the big Revell Falcon (NOT the FM based one), it looks like it is a slightly modified version of the Revell tooling, which in turn was based on the MPC kit. So it still has the sidewalls which are too tall. But, it appears they gave it a five gear configuration on the bottom in addition to the new square dish (and probably some new rubber cockpit figures). For a price point of around $60 though, I will probably pass at least initially and may pick one up if it pops up at Hobby Lobby or a Michael's and I have access to a 40% off coupon.
