sorry if this is old news.. just got this email from MR

Ringed by many moons, the remote sanctuary of Utapau plays host to the ever-mobile Separatist Council. Buried deep within one of the planet's numerous life sustaining sinkholes, the assembled trade and commerce barons of the Confederacy of Independent Systems have set up a secret base-of-operations.

When the audacious attempt to kidnap Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is foiled by Jedi knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, General Greivous, cunning leader of the droid armies, retreats to Utapau to lay low. Here, surrounded by thousands of droids, and with no resistance from the peaceful, subdued Utapauns, Grievous hopes to remain hidden.

When a Republican intelligence unit intercepts a diplomatic packet from the Chairman of the Utapaun system, General Grievous' hiding place is revealed. Immediately, the Jedi council dispatch General Obi-Wan Kenobi and his clone forces to Utapau to capture Grievous and end the Clone Wars. But events on Coruscant take a dramatic turn and in the depths of Utapau, Clone Commander Cody receives Order 66 and instructs his troops to open fire on a man who was once his friend, Obi Wan...

To create our 212th Attack Battalion Trooper Helmet replica, Master Replicas was given the original ILM digital character files. From these we generated a 3D model to use as a master pattern to create highly accurate molds from which we produce our helmets in top quality fiberglass. The unique orange pattern of markings which distinguish this helmets from other clone forces were supplied by Lucasfilm Ltd., ensuring that your helmet accurately represents those worn on by the Clone Troopers on Utapau.

Since we used original computer renders, you can be assured that our 212th Attack Battalion Trooper Helmet is an exact replica, accurately repeating the multitude of subtle shapes and curves that make up this incredible piece of armor that bridges the gap between the Clone Trooper forces of the prequels and the Stormtroopers of the classic trilogy.

The 212th Attack Battalion Trooper Helmet will be strictly limited to 1,000 units worldwide.

I was tempted too, but likewise decided to wait for a variant that's more distinctively different from the four Clone Trooper buckets MR has released already. Right now, it seems as if they're just changing the paint.

Also, am I mistaken, or is the price of this Clone Trooper helmet a bit higher than that of those previously released? I'm tempted to say about 10 percent higher. I could be wrong, since I bought my other Clone buckets through the secondary market and don't clearly remember the original retail prices.

"Expected to Begin Shipping: Spring 2007"

Ill put $50 down it ships in late fall 2007. Thats if it ships this year.

I would guess that while MR was having all of the backordered white clone helmets produced until they reached the 2500 mark, they just had to up it another 1000 and add on the Utapau paint scheme. I bet these will ship in mid spring, say April-May

Makes sense on the different color schemes, MR will want to get their money out of the R&D they had to pop into this and that had to be a bit expensive to do. I am sure there are collectors as well that want every variation they can get. The computer generated models are 3d in the computer generation, so its no really any more surprising to hear exact replica for this than the yoda lightsaber.

The only question I would have is the paint quality, some of the past helmets I have seen are a bit rough QC wise.

meh, how many 'clone' helmets do we really need?
im kinda doubting that there are many able or willing to buy all these different paint jobs.
This would be testing even the most devoted MR zombie...

Well, for all the MR Clone helmet fans, I've got a wonderful Star Corps I've been trying to get rid of for months. Limited number, original plaque, box, everything. Would like to get $350 for it.

This helmet is nice.. off course, But I really think they should go a little step further, and make some variants, instead of just color schemes... wverybody here can paint, so it's not a biggie...

I think they should make the variants, like Cody helmet, Deviss... bacara, neyo, Ep.II pilot, etc...

That would be a great success ... (and many of them are just mods of the standard ones, so just need alittle work, not a lot of...)...

Please, guys frmo MR, think abuot this ... You should ...

I'm still undecided if I should just get it. I have all the others but I agree that it is not much of a varient that I feel I must have it.

Same price as the shock, Star Corps, and Spec Ops.[/b]
Thanks for confirming this. The price seemed a bit higher than I had remembered, and I wondered for a moment whether MR had hiked their base prices at the same time as introducing the blanket 10 percent discount for CS members. I'm glad to see that's not the case.

Same here. I have all the others and I'd like to have this one, too, but it's just not different enough to merit the outlay. When they bring out the individualized buckets (e.g., Cody's), I'll probably be on board again.
