Just wanted to say thanks to this website and all of the members for all of the info available! I love this site, I had to join! Anyways I am in the process of building my first predsuit. I have all the materials on order and have decided to go with the Mr. I suit build. My local community does a haunted corn maze every year and I have participated in this as a "scarer" for the past five years, this year my section along with about 5 other guys received the theme "movie horrors." Along with the usual suspects Freddy, Jason, Leatherface- two of us, I being one, decided to do Predator. Excited to do it. Just received my mask, Resin kit with laser kit. AWESOME... Will post pics of that when I get started. In the meantime I have built the plasma caster, I'm no master builder or engineer but I think it turned out pretty good. Tell me whatcha think! Pics and Description are as follows:
I started with a pool noodle as the base...The Pictures go in order-cut and glued two sections of the pool noodle together to create the basic shape. Plugged the two ends of the pool noodle on the back with soda bottle caps. Hot glued on the cardboard(would've used foam if I didn't have to wait two weeks to get it, my area doesn't have craft stores and local wally world is always out) pattern to give depth. I had some automotive wire loom tube, cut and put a strip on the top and then around the outside of the edge on the rear of the caster. Then put 2 coats of thick plasti dip. I had an old model car laying around that I didn't particularly care for, so I robbed bits and pieces to add to the barrell, I cut and glued them on. Turned out cool. Then painted the whole thing using Rustoleum Hammered Silver spay paint. Two coats then acrylic black and red for weathering and touch up.
