NEW Hollywood Collectibles Groups 4 different stunt Aliens M41-A pulse rifles release

Re: NEW Hollywood Collectibles Groups 4 different stunt Aliens M41-A pulse rifles rel

The "real" stunt you posted - do they claim its authentic? I know their Hicks armor is repro - I've just never seen an all black stunt before.

Re: NEW Hollywood Collectibles Groups 4 different stunt Aliens M41-A pulse rifles rel

Didn't some get painted black for part 3 ?
hero version was not , but the stunt resin copies were painted black for Alien 3 that they made for that movie , from what I understand all hero versions from Aliens (2nd movie) were dismantled mostly , ,......... but they did keep a few stunt resin rifles ,and painted those black for Aliens 3
and one of them were repainted green again over the black stunts...as far as the London props stunt rifle they had , was kept black !
I haven't heard of anything changing , but it very well could have changed again...I never seen one cracked as the photo above , not sure if that is authentic or not.?
its pretty bad shape , if it is ....:(

Guy, I don't think any of the original stunt rifles from Aliens were used for Alien 3. The Alien 3 props came from Bapty who IIRC only had hero rifles left over, which were then converted with the vacuform shroud - here's one of the Alien 3 rifles as it looks today:

As far as I heard from other members ,all the hero versions were dismantled after Aliens because of lawful reasons , and I assumed most members who stated this would be correct , I took others information and assumed from automatic weapons standpoints , they had to dismantled and restored to original status on each weapon , however I have been wrong before....but it might not have been entitled to all hero versions then , the truth could be from both perspectives , if I am wrong , then I apologize

As far as stunt resin rifles , I just went from what I had read before on the stunts being painted from Aliens and utilized in Alien 3

There was only one version from what I know on the 10 vent barrel hero version and it might be kept by some private collector or Cameron himself , or it might have been taken apart and dismantled , I don't believe ...anyone knows for sure what happened to Ripley and Hicks rifle ....but if someone knows for sure...I would love to know

Willie this throws me off ...cause seeing as how , the shroud on this has brown Bess paint underneath the black paint so yeah this had to have been in Aliens the 2nd movie , I am wondering if that's the one with a metal shroud , cause wouldn't be with a new vacuform..... shroud just be painted black for Alien 3 without green underneath ???

Guy, I think that's the hero rifle Propstore has in their company collection - you can read all about it and the various paint jobs here:

OK so it does state the hero version with both working M1a1 Thompson and 870 express is still in operation and not dismantled... And has been stripped of the black and restored to its brown Bess green color texture....but deactivated.... But it also states 3 possibly 4 were hero's , but what about the one with 10 vent that Hicks gave Ripley is that one still in existence ???

I have heard that James had a rifle hanging in his office .
If that is the same rifle who knows . He did keep props from the film so its easy to see him keeping that rifle .

Re: NEW Hollywood Collectibles Groups 4 different stunt Aliens M41-A pulse rifles rel

-The "hero" rifles were indeed dismantled, then later reassembled to some degree using original components. The rarest component being the aluminum shrouds. Vac formed shrouds were used on several of the 'reassembled' rifles. At least one metal shrowd set must have survived, because as Willie and Guy pointed out, there it is! But many had vac shrouds after the fact as well.

-There was a period where surviving rifles were rented out by Bapty. This "rental" phase is where most got green paint jobs. They didnt look "military" enough with the BB paint, so they were painted OD green at that time.

-The black paint came from those remaining hero's being painted black (over the green rental phase) and used in Alien 3. This is why beat up black ones have green under them. The Alien 3 rifles were indeed LIVE FIRE, but it was very unlikely they had functional GLs or 870s in them.

-The 'rubber stunts' were not used in Alien 3. Visible holes in the vents are visible in nearly every shot in alien 3. They are the reassembled heroes, several of which are still in their 'alien 3' form today. (Black paint, patchwork parts)
The "real" stunt you posted - do they claim its authentic? I know their Hicks armor is repro - I've just never seen an all black stunt before.

-Willie, the plaque on that stunt from the EMP museum simply says "from Aliens" and doesnt say screen used or not. It is possible it was a cast. However that forward hanging vent is present on every screen shot from the film when actors are climbing or holding objects in each hand (where weight is an issue). Even if that specific one is not original, my research shows the feature is absolutely found on the 'stunt' pulses on film.

With extensive frame by frame analysis, there was not one 'regular' barrel that was 'filled in' like a stunt. All stunts appear wonky...

-The one from the propstore link posted is, to me, clear proof the 'heroes' as we see them now were re-assembled. It contains the 870s functional GL found in the 10-hole hero, but clearly does not have a 10 hole vent. Plus, close inspection of the shrouds show a very very similar match to the underside features of the shroud seen in the production photos of the pulse with 8 holes. PLUS the vent is actually set further back on that version than is seen in any screen cap. To me this, again, shows it was reattached after filming.

Not trying to sound like a student or anything here...but again my 'research' shows there were as many as 6 x "live fire" pulse rifles used in Aliens. Only 1 has 'without a doubt' a functional grenade launcher with 870 in it.

Most surviving rifles as we see them today are almost certainly not 'original'. I have no doubt they contain original parts. But there are major flaws on virtually every surviving pulse that indicates post filming alterations of a "rebuild"/"reassembly".

Even more rambling detailed analysis can be found in this thread. http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15202&hilit=hero+pulse

Hey guys, I have just seen they were selling these pulse rifle on the HCG website... From this thread, it's not really worth buying? To be honest, I kinda find it cool that they propose payment plans, so this is why I am quite tempted in buying one.. Now to decide? Which version you guys would recommend? I believe the rifle was olive green, but it seems that a lot of people think it's brown bess... Could you help me decide? x)

Do you know when they will actually release them, heard there's been delayed!

Thanks :)

The ones in the movie were absolutely Brown Bess. Actually all of the USCMC gear was. The color takes on different hues depending on the lighting, so when viewed under James Cameron's steely blues it can appear Olive-ish. They were BB, though :)
