New guy here.... Birth of a Halo 4 RAIL GUN.

Thanks for letting me join the RPF forum.
I'm new to the site but I've been an active member of the 405th for about 7 or 8 months now. Recently while attending the Florida Supercon I was referred to this site by several of the people there & it was suggested that I join. Being new to the prop & costume world I'm looking soak up all the information I can get. I've pick a few things already from the members at the 405th & soaring hammer but I still have a lot to learn & a long ways to go...
I thought I'd lead off with one of my most recent builds I completed just before going to Supercon.

A month ago when I started this there were very few reffrence pic to go by. In fact heres what I had:

I started with paper, pencil & a piece of 1" x 10" x 8'

Then all the hacking away started.
Many of the pieces made streight into the garbage.
Some took 3 or 4 attempts to get the angles right.

This thing slowly started to come together.

And just about finished.
This took about 2 weekends to design & knock out.
I intend to re-do the entire project & scale it down just a little. Maybe cast & mold it with a little help from Hyperbalistic & blackula.

Thanks, This thing is a beast. It ended up being a little to heavy to carry around. After about 2 or 3 hours at Supercon I had to go put it back in the car.

Its do like how it looks up on the wall.

Rail Guns are always awesome. And for the size chief is that looks bada**. But I bet it got heavy after awhile.

Wow, fantastic build. Very impressive given the amount of material you had to go with, and how quickly you knocked it out. Definitely to scale for the Chief. For the rest of us, eh...:lol

Can I just say WOW! No, really, considering how good the thing looks, and with low few reference pics there were, that's phenomenal. In regards to the weight issue, you used wood, if I saw right? Yeah, wood will get heavy...that said, I would love to see the thread when you remake this. Do you know what you plan to remake the rail gun out of? If I ever get around to doing my own Spartan armor, that would definitely be one of them I'd carry.

Awesome - my jaw just about dropped!

Is the grip supposed to be blocky like that, or should have a more ergonomic look? (I realize it's a video game object, but sometimes I see gun or blaster builds where the grip is the only thing from making it a fully believable real-world object.)
