New BMF coming

Thanks man! I actually found all those, but I don't really see the resemblance of my pits to the reference I can see. Haha.

Ah sorry about that I haven't really looked at the bottom pits yet to recognize them easily. I'm still slowly working on getting the top pits finished up and ready for printing. I see at least one photo in that album that shows a few of the lower pits and I see what you mean by them not resembling the ones you have. Maybe somebody did their own scratch build of them possibly?

The one in the upper right corner of yours does look somewhat similar to this one

But none of the others really resemble these two

Those were cast by a member here, I will look up his name. He provided me with all 5 pits and all 8 mandible pits, unfortunately none of them are screen accurate. The bottom front mandible pits you have pictured were close, but still not 100%accurate.
Can someone tell me the maker and perhaps correct pits these go in? Are they for the underside like I am inclined to believe? My reference photos do not really show these particularly well...View attachment 583573

I can survive without them being screen accurate, but do you know which ones he intended for which pits?

Hello all

I just "joined the club" about two weeks ago...got a second hand Hasbro here in Germany for cheap money. It's now hanging on the wall waiting fot things to happen. I have a phote wall paper of space that will serve as the back ground...just need to wait for one of my friends who is good in decorating...since I am not! I am now calculating various upgarde szenarios...If I had th ecash I could easily spend almost 1000EUR on it I guess. But that's not possible, unfortuantely.
Has anybody tried reaching out to Hasbro to suggest a second run, plain without stickesr but in Polystrol? That would be heaven...

Indeed! They could sell it as an 'adult collectible' model. But I would expect them to keep the stickers since non-modelers would be in the market also, unless they were to tool up parts for the missing details. Perhaps include a little bit of hardware for mounting on a wall? Or a choice of radars?

I have their 'big' 19 inch Slave 1 (which is also essentially 1/48 scale) and it appears to be primarily polystyrene plastic (though this is not yet confirmed...I've not yet tried any solvent glues on it.) Point is, Hasbro has used this plastic before. But don't expect it to be as cheap - probably more like US$180 or so. Or more (the Slave 1, which came in a 'play package' with three figures & a Jedi Starfighter retailed around US$100...)

What a concept to have Hasbro making model kits... oh, wait. Revell has the license!

PS: you now need an AMT TIE fighter kit; they come two to a pack, are approximately the right size and nicely detailed (some bemoan the 'wings' being the wrong shape, but it isn't really that bad & they certainly look like TIE's.) Your very own scene from the Death Star escape!

Got 'em but I'm thinking an asteroid chase scene.

Aye! That would be a great way to hide the wall mounts, too. Huge, 3D wall decoration. Plus, although dusting the models would be needed, the asteroids would only look better (barring cobwebs...)

No way? The big Slave is to scale with the Hero Falcon? Thought it looked too big. Huh. Well, I'll have to steal when my kids get bored of it.

Oh yes, if you go with the assumptions that the MF is 1/48 scale and the "real" Slave 1 is 76 feet long... using a 1/48 scale pilot figure as a test, it visually looks good with him in the cockpit. (Man, I need pictures to illustrate this, don't I?)

I originally found a 'junker' that lacked the wings & the entry ramp, but then picked one up that was complete except for hatch on the underside of the 'tail'. I took a wing apart and the bits look quite faithful to the original, at least on the basic dimensions. At least it will be a help in making new ones. Overall, though a great basis for a scale model just like the Rebels Mill Falcon. Plus, it isn't made of PP plastic!

the big slave 1 is in scale with the larger legacy falcon.got both of these and done a bit of research.
came to a fairly safe conclusion they are indeed in scale.once i finish modding them will diplay them together.

Just been messing around with my Hero Falcon lately and I've decided to take a leaf out of SirCharles77's thread and am using a 9in Panavise mount to display it as well as making an internal brace out of wood (again inspired by SirCharles77). As I've never mounted a model this way before I'm now wondering what is an ideal way to attach the 2 together. I'd really appreciate a few ideas from more experienced modellers.

I'm sure there are a few different methods, but the first one that came to mind was drilling a hole through the middle of your brace, then countersink a hole just big enough to squeeze a bolt head into and maybe add a little epoxy afterwards to help hold it in place. The threads would stick out of the bottom of the falcon and you could just screw your mount on to it there.

I'm going to eventually need to find a mount for mine but I'm wanting to be able to mount mine on the wall so it's going to need to be long and well reinforced.

Capo: That is the one. It had an earlier issue in the blue-gray Jango Fett paint scheme in a similar set called 'The Rise of Boba Fett' or something like that. The play set is indeed going for some hefty bucks, but I found the "loose" junker for about $15 & the more complete one for $50, so they can be had for reasonable prices. It is fairly easy to identify from the side opening hatch & the three seats in the cockpit. Both of mine were missing parts but together, I have all but the expendables (missiles and 'mines') so its all good.

MoFo: My research findings pointed to this 19 inch Slave 1 being 1/48 scale & a match to the 28 inch Hasbro 'Rebels' Falcon. How long is the Legacy Falcon toy (this is the one with a 3.75" figure play interior, correct?) My understanding is that it is somewhat larger but how much, I'm not sure.

Junk Pilot: there is a threaded portion on the Panavise, right? I'd get a matching bolt & some washers (to spread the force on the wood frame) then drill a hole through the frame & skin (perhaps at a location that can be closed over with a magnet-equipped cover for when it isn't on the mount.) You'll need some way to secure the bolt head so it doesn't spin or fall out into the interior (perhaps a trap block - just not CA glue!) Probably what you're thinking of already... alternatively, if that nut on the mount comes off, then just permanently bolt it into the frame for a slide fit onto the Panavise.

Regards, Robert

Thanks for clarifying that, I'll keep an eye out on eBay to see if I can come across a used one. I've already got a Habro x-wing and tie fighter that I'll work on sometime but I'd like to grab one before that price goes up any further.

Wow. Picked it up last Christmas on Amazon for thirty bucks - that's more than a 600% jump in a year. Nuts.

I know I need to go ahead and pick up one of the vintage collection tie interceptors while they're still available on Prime.

So is the 2010ish Toys R Us Slave 1 with the Jango Fett paint job the same size and model as the vintage collection one or are there some differences between the two models?

the hasbro legacy falcon is approx 800mm long and yes its the one with 3.75" play interior.
i've got the 2010 jango version of slave 1 and i think that it's pretty much the same model as the esb vintage collectors version but i haven't physically seen the esb version.

Hello all

Just had an idea...not sure yet if it will work. For all those panels that are missing we have the patterns but we know the plastic is not good for glueing. Now I just found some left over 3M heavy reflecting tape I used for decorating a flight helmet. That stuff is rather thick and sticks like mad. I will try this on an underside panel to see if the thickness is enough...the glueing power will be more then enough for sure.

cheers
