New BMF coming

No. The long one still matches the 5ft version however it has a 5mm extension on the rear of the cone to make up for the shorter cockpit tube behind it.

Is the long one to match the 32 inch model used in empire, I thought the short cone matches 5 foot model, which version matches the sets ?

Let me clarify this , to make it match the 5 footer , it needs the addition behind the cockpit section,
for the 32 inch the glass cockpit is elongated ?
Is that what you mean

The cockpit cone (only) on the Hasbro toy, as it is, matches the shape of the 5ft Falcon. However, the length of the tunnel immediately behind the cockpit cone is short by 5mm when compared to the length of the tunnel on the Master Replicas 32in Falcon replica (see below image originally posted by tek2graphics).

Tony's SHORT cockpit replicates the original shape of the Hasbro cone (again, based on the 5ft version) and his LONG cockpit is identical except it has a 5mm extension at the rear to make up for the missing length of the tunnel to the cockpit. Neither cone is accurate for a 32in replica.

I hope I haven't muddied the waters too much for you.

What he means is.. ;) The cockpit is not what's longer...its the tube directly behind the cockpit. To put it another way(or the same way again)...the LONG cockpit has an extra band/cylinder attached to it..that in effect makes the tube directly behind the cockpit longer..

On the hasbro toy they cockpit is attached to the tube right where that grill/band is. There should be a gap between the cockpit and this...thus the extra bits :)

Hello. I have glue reports.

I drove into the big city and visited the fratton model centre. This is where I found the same range of glues as can be found on Mr Stickys eBay page.
I bought a few bits and tried it out. Here are my findings.

Now the weakest of all is just superglue on its on it just pops off unless its scored or wraps around some moulded detail.

Next the spray adhesion promoter for painting helps, making it a lot better but the superglue tests still pop away with about 4 x the force.

Now if I clean the surfaces with acrylic thinners (like @RougeTrooper suggested on his X wing thread), then use the “Mr Stickys Cyano Xtra Surface Primer” (Which is the same as the “Loctite 770” that samster27 suggested on his Falcon thread). Then superglue.
We have a result.

It sticks. I mean properly sticks. I have tried to separate the pieces but they remain together still. I’m sticking Polypropylene :)

*The only problem is the primer acts like a kicker so don’t apply superglue until the things are in place if both surfaces are primed*

Finally success, I mean she needs to hold together right?

I haven't tried PVC glue but i have tried Contacta glue which is the same sort of thing I think, a weld type glue. Contacta didn't like the polypropylene.

Thanks junk pilot , you've cleared that up ;)

The few panels that I've replaced I've used "ZAP-A-GAP" CA+ medium.(Bonds anything, even oily surfaces!) I did not do any prep and those panels seem to be on there really good.I'd say it's reasonable..but not perfect.

Last update on that:

The last cabin cone I've designed matches the shape, proportions and details of the 32" cone. Now is the only available cone at my shop.

:cool

AS someone who has ordered a BUNCH of what Tony has done(and will be getting more soon)..I must say they all look AWESOME!

Second that - I have a lot of Tony's MPC Falcon stuff. He does great work!

I was wondering about Randy's parts - very interesting stuff if you want to do a variant. I'll wait for Mike's resin I think - I'm in no hurry anyway as I have a lot of stuff to clear off the bench before I can address the Hasbro Falcon...

Many thanks guys for your support!!!

Cool I might have to get that, now that I've gone down the 32" route

What about this as an alternative....what if the included stickers were applyed to the surface and then you use regular superglue to glue the pieces on top of the sticker? Since the stickers were designed to stick to the polypropylene (and i've read somewhere they really stick well), my thinking is to use the sticker as an in-between for whatever needs to be attached (ie side panels, etc) taking out the guess work of what specialized glue is needed. The assumption is that superglue should stick on the sticker surface.

Can someone please provide good links to Randy Coopers Falcon upgrade kit parts? Im the last guy in the free world who does not have Facebook.

Thanks.

Found a tie fighter model at TK Maxx for £9.99, should have been three times that, so good bargain, and I hope to get the vent covers from the wings.

I have often found good bargains there on models.

They had a 1/12 scale car in there for £8, I would have got it, but I didn't like the look of it.
