New Airsoft PR On Evike

Is there some trick to getting this darn Evika Matrix PR apart. The screws were all removed, clamp, etc. The shrouds just would not come apart around the Thompson. The bottom of the mag well did fine but the top felt like if I pulled anymore it would break????????

Thanks

Hey Tom,

Did you go over the breakdown book that Evike included with it? I haven't tried to take it apart yet, but that's the first place I'd start.

The book is kinda useless. When I tried to open up mine, I was stumped.

Like Jameth said, I took out all the usual screws.....nothing. Its like there is some internal clips or glue. I ended up just sending it back for them to repair.

With mass-produced pieces like this I always say "where there is a screw there is glue"... May or may not be the case here, but chances are pretty good

I'm glad the question about the break down came up. Along with adding an aesthetic trigger for the grenade launcher, I want to replace the shotgun shell with a grenade and will need to get that dummy shell out of the barrel.

You mean like this:

This is an SD Studios grenade. I was able to pry the mag well of the shrouds apart enough to reach the blocked screw and get half the shotgun cage off but that is as far as I could go. I need to do a full repaint and would rather do it with the gun in pieces.

The Shotgun bolt tube was covered with reflective metal looking tape. The picture looks terrible because of the flash but in person it looks just like a Remington 870 bolt.

The shell pops right off and the grenade fits perfectly in there. Need to trim a little so it looks like the grenade can eject.

The shrouds are held together with metal pins, no glue. I took mine apart last night to do some repainting on it and had a hard time getting them separated. Once I got that figured out it was pretty easy to get them apart.

My PR finally arrived today and it looks like it was damaged during shipping. :angry I hate UPS

I am not the type of guy to return things, and I am going to take it apart to make some mods anyway, but for $250 bucks it should be perfect....right?

UPDATE: Evike issued me a RMA within a few days and sent me a prepaid shipping label to return it.

You've obviously not read the Hover Board thread!! LOL!!

Send it back for an exchange - Evike is good about that - and yes it should be unbroken when you get it!!

Tom - yours looks great with the grenade installed. Also, I like your mod to the cartridge cover and will try that myself with the silver tape. I was considering just replacing the cartridge cover with a real one, but your solution would be MUCH easier!!

:lol

I have some chrome tape from the auto parts store I used to wrap part of my "AFBB" lightsaber, but I think that might be too "shiny"...

If he posts up that it's duct tape, I'm going to laugh so hard!! LOL!!

:lol :lol Many people think Duck tape started as Duct tape for AC ducts but it actually started for soldiers and was nicknamed Duck Tape because it was water resistant. Guys brought it home and used it and it caught on. The silver version became the standard to match AC ducts. Little useless piece of trivia for anyone who did not know.

No, it's not duck tape. It is called Nashua Tape. It works great but it's tricky and takes several tries to get it smooth. You will use several pieces before you get it smooth. It works great for Lightsabers as well. There is a type of metal tape that is very flimsy and would not work for this. This stuff is thick and stiff, for tape.

That is written on the inside.

Thanks for the kind words.

Holy crap...that stuffs like $16 for the roll and all I need is 4 inches of tape....there's got to be something else...

...ahh....a quick Google search results in the discovery that it falls into the category of 'foil tape' to where there are other options...

Oh hey! Hope Depot sells that Nashua tape for less than $8 for a roll!! I'm all over that!! Now I have a project for this weekend!!

I am always surprised at how much something as simple as a little mod can make such a nice difference and this one earns you a gold star for sure!!
