Netflix Daredevil Cowl Helmet - First Raw Casting Photo!

Re: Netflix Daredevil Cowl Helmet - 3D Model - Cleanup Nearly Done, Almost Ready Pics

Oh he hasn't posted anything yet, it's a private commission he's doing for a friend. I'm sure he'll post as he makes progress.

I couldn't find his work on Daredevil anywhere.

Ohhhhhh gotcha. That's sweet, he's really good at that stuff. You seem to be really good too, that helmet looks really great

When modeling, how do you make sure the size of the final print will be correct? Do you have a digital model of a head you reference, or is it solely based off of picture references/screencaps from the show? Or maybe even something else?

Well I've already done several helmet prints, that have been cleaned, molded and worn, so I usually use those for a basis of size, proportions. But this time around I had a 3d scan of my head. Seen here: https://p3d.in/vsE8p And no, this was done solely by those few reference shots from the last 10 mins of the final episode haha.

Ah okay. Im guessing you used 123D Catch? Also how did you get rid of your hair in the model? Or do you have a shaved head?

Didn't use 123D catch.

Used a 3d scanner we built at work. Did two passes, one with skin hood one, one without, spliced the two together so I'd not have flattened ears.

First raw pull out of the mold, this casting was a bit too thick on the inside of one side, I'll perfect it soon enough, every mold is a bit different.

No idea yet, this was a flawed casting as i stated before, with far too much build up on the inside left. Once I have a proper casting I'll let you know. But yes, the idea is that I'll be adding lenses. Note, if/when I take commissions lenses will be added.

How much space is there between the eyes? Coz i was thinking of adding red lens.
