What I thought would have been an easy Google, resulted in an unexpected tidal wave of positive and negative reviews of all sorts of rotary and compass cutters.

I'm looking for a circle cutter to cut a few different sizes of circles (adjustable) and my preference is for something that doesn't use a spike to hold the cutter in place, as I don't want a tiny hole in the piece I am cutting. Like a friction pad or something.

There are many options- so many- but I'm hoping someone has a recommendation to help me determine which ones are good and which ones are junk. The Internet is... unhelpful.

Thank you!

You could try circle templates from an art supply store, or you can make something like this:

A crude design but you can 3d print something like this.
Glue a piece of sandpaper/rubber to the bottom of the knob and insert something sharp in one of the holes.

TazMan2000 Thank you! At first glance, I thought you were recommending a trailer hitch, but the description makes perfect sense. I'm going to give it a try.

I used to have a circle template from Michael's, but I don't recall the brand. It worked... fine? The blade was crummy.

I'm going to grab this one as a backup since the reviews make me think it will work and not damage the paper I'm cutting.

HAHAHA. It does look like a trailer hitch!
