Hi folks,

I realise this is not a usual home built cosplay item, but i thought there may be a few of us in here with star wars costumes and various replica lightsabers.

I have had since about 2006 the Master replica Vader ESB FX lightsaber. It still woks away happily and is mostly a display piece, however for quite a while its always had a gap of about 4-5 inches right in the middle of the blade that doesn't light up properly.

If i push the battery pack from the bottom up a bit (its slightly sprung) it comes on, but only when pushed in.

I wondered if anyone had had a similar issue with their FX replica sabres and could shed some light on why only one part of the LED strip would be faulty but not broken.

If this is in totally the wrong section i apologise to mods, i just wasn't sure where else to ask.

cheers folks

I recently converted an '05 MR Vader to Luxeon and was having issues with the battery pack not seating properly. I used Deoxit on the leads (that can tarnish over time) and cut rings of duct tape to act as a spacer in the end cap to push the battery pack against the leads more securely. Fixed my issue. Hope that helps.

I bought some Duracell Ultra batteries. The sabre had energizer industrials in before.

he duracell ultras seemed a tighter fit and the battery pack now is very snug in the tube.

Blades a LOT brighter and has no dark section anymore, must have been a connection not quite making it :)

Happy days. Now i just need t sort out a costume with my mate. Probably a made one as no time to make a proper cosplay sadly, but uts only for a laugh for midnight showing of Ep 7 :)
