Hey.

I need some high-res pics of the ANH leather suit, and any pics of the inner cape and outer cape, especially the collar.

I was thinking there were some pics of the tour suit being put on, and some shots of the leather suit without the armor and capes that would show the stiching and such.

Also, any pics of the inner cape and outer cape, especially the collar would be great.

Please email them to me at: , or post them here.

I'm only looking for say 4-5 good sized, high res pics, the kind a tailor can use when making an ANH Vader leather suit and use them as a reference.

THANKS ..

Wow. I'm speechless. No one has any pics of Vader from ANH, or promotion/behind the scenes photos of his suit.

My email is completely empty.

I doubt you'll get anything hi-res. The only published ones were small pictures from Hyperspace of Kermit test fitting the costume parts. They have been posted before.

The hi-res ones will be closely guarded by those who have them.

Great community, huh?

Yeah really. I think that comment was unnecessary by TMP. It was kind of like a slap in the face.

I have the Star Wars Chronicles book, I will scan anything you need from that. Also, I have the Kermit suit pics if they are any good to you. Ill also check some other resources I have. PM me and I'll do what I can for you.

Kidding aside, the Chronicles has great photos of the ANH suit....

There was that claimed original cape set up for auction recently...I can see if I can dig those pics up...

There were also the Kermit suit photos posted on Hyperspace....not exactly hi resolution but a good reference nonetheless...

Most of the photos do not lend themselves to something a tailor could easily work from...and it's something that can take years of study to determine how the suit is put together...

Can i ask what the Kermit vader pics are? Never heard of them before, would love to see them to.

Thanks.

Lewis

Kermit is the guy who did the Darth Vader tour from 1977 to the early 80s. He wore the original screen suit. There was a Hyperspace article that you should still be able to access if you are a Hyperspace member...it's a terrific writeup on Kermit's career as Vader with excellent photos.

When I said high-res, I meant a pic of good resolution that was at least 4-5 inches square, something that would show good deatil on the leather suit and be big enough to be of value to someone trying to make an accurate ANH suit, cape, and collar. Not like a super high-res image that is 18X17 inches in size or anything, but not little tiny blurry scans from the SW Insider either.

Unfortunately, images that size/quality are extremely rare and highly valued by collectors...you won't find them just anywhere, otherwise there would be screen accurate leather ANH suits made a long time ago. That's also why I've seen members here literally take years to research the original suits...back then the photography just wasn't meant to capture the details of the suit, not like the Trisha Bigger style of SW fashion we see today...so we have to tweak out whatever details we can from the limited reference available, or find sources of new reference material, something that happens rarely, but it can and has happened here. The big problem is, the only reference of the original suit in its component layers are the Kermit photos and the odd VHS screencap of Prowse being dressed on set. That's it.

I don't have Hyperspace (I know, my subscription ran out and I have not renewed it yet...).

If anyone has them, my email again is

Well, I'll point out that not only is that website posting Hyperspace photos without permission, it is using other photos without permission from at least three people I know, including myself (anything watermarked TSR). So I politely request those photos to be removed from that website. Those include the Paul Allen stunt helmet photos taken at the Seattle Science museum, and the original ESB Vader helmet photos that were taken from the www.starwarshelmets.com website (the Don Bies helmet) which I obtained directly from the previous owner and not from Ebay, among others.

EDIT: let me be more specific...these are mine...please remove them...

Myphotos.jpg

Two of them are my scans that I posted here (I have the high res original versions...one even shows the same wear on the page of my magazine that I scanned it from), two I received from the original ESB helmet owner and gave permission to be posted on www.starwarshelmets.com (those are cropped versions that were posted there...I have the uncropped versions), and one is a screen cap from a Japanese version of the Making of Star Wars I obtained with great difficulty.

Well, there are a few I shared with Dan that I cannot officially claim ownership to, but poor form that they have been made public. However, there are two that I do specifically own, one that features me in it, and another that I compiled and made notes on. I've respectfully asked Dan to remove them and will assume that he'll do the right thing.

No offense, dude. But you can't lay claim to pics you've scanned from a 'zine. Or the screen-cap from any making of - unless you own the footage to begin with. Not being an ass here but it's the truth. These are no different than the HS pics. It's like taking a screen-grab of your monitor while browsing a HS page.

I didn't check that page to begin with as I thought it would've been the same ol' stuff... Boy, was I wrong. :p

But I gotta agree with GH above, no need to post some of them without permission.
