Need measurements from Fine Molds Falcon for scaling

A 1:1 Falcon exterior is an amazing project good luck. It was done for filming so it's obviously technically possible but I hope your mental sanity can take the strain. Do you have a carpentry crew on standby?

Just a thought, but if I had the facilities and budget to build a 1:1 falcon, I think that I'd prefer to use the MR falcon as reference instead of the finemolds, if only for it's size alone.

Interesting.

Any particular reasons?

I imagine because the Fine Molds was created based on scans of the 32", of which the MR would be a much more accurate reference.

It would also have the correct greeblies and not scaled down, and thus losing details, such as on the FM kit.

This is a really cool and ambitious project. :thumbsup

I am taking everything on that site into consideration. Especially the more accurate scaling work that Robert did for the interior vs. exterior set disagreements.

Problem is that he did not have access to such accurate replicas as the FM and MR ships that we have today. I just want to make sure I've exhausted all avenues and gotten comprehensive numbers from every available source and reference before I start building.

Yeah, the MR is generally more accurate (non-paralell mandibles, etc.) plus it's a lot bigger. Taking a measurement and doing a conversion from a larger source is bound to be more accurate as well/

I think this project is little too ambitious.

27 meter saucer on 5 landing gear is technically difficult engineering task.

probably requires highly engineered welded steel frame to hold its shape.
