Need help/info for this Terminator prop!

Hey Gang,

I wanted to tap the collective mind and see what info people have on the scope used on the Kyle Reese Plasma rifle. Someone had mentioned that the scope was used in close encounters.

I know that the weapon itself is a Valmet M82a but I really want to build a working scope.

There was some talk about this just a few months back, I don't think a definitive answer was produced.

It is my opinion that the scope is a modified hand held camera sight used by movie directors to plan certain shots...to see how they would look on an actual filming camera. In several behind the scenes clips from Aliens, you can see James Cameron using something similar. I've seen other directors using similar items.

And if JC used it, you can bet it may have very well been used in one of his films.

But I have no real evidence to support this claim, and others have dismissed it altogether.
