Please help me if you can. I have a nice MG34 that was used for a casting. That pink rubber goo has seeped into every part of the gun. I have removed a few pins to clean to more important components, but htere are some imposible to get to places.

Is there a cleaner that will disolve the rubber? I have tried acetone and it doesn'[t do anythig.

Please advise oh great ones.

We're talking a REAL MG34 right? :eek

I'd sell a few castings and pay a certified gunsmith to tear it completely down and clean it right. I wouldn't take any chances w/ something like that.

afaik cured silicone rubber can´t be dissolved (well, w/o using some kind ocid that would do harm to the MG as well ;) )

Stripping down/ putting back together a MG34 isn´t that hard..I´ve done it to my MG34 as well. Just break it apart, clean all the parts and reassemble it...easy job IMO.

If your not in the know how yourself on the breakdown of the gun I'm sure you could find some info on the web, local library, or large gun shop about the how to.
