Need Advice on MPP & Graflex replicas...

Which companies are reliable and make nice replicas of the MPP and Graflex flash holders?

I know a lot of people have problems with Parks but it seems his stuff is fairly authentic. There's also another site called CustomSaberShop.com that seems to do the replicas, too.

Both price their replicas at $150. Not sure if either place includes the grips, though. I think CSS doesn't include the grips -- they're a separate.

I'm also thinking that in the future that I'd like to get a spare MPP headpiece that could be painted chrome so that a quick headswap could turn the MPP into an AOTC-style Anakin saber hilt. Is the polyurethane replica a good fit for the MPP body? I'm fairly certain it could be decently chrome-painted (from a spray can) after a warm water wish with dish liquid and light sanding and priming...

Both sites sell the same flash guns, made by the same manufacturer overseas.
I believe you would have a better experience with the customsabershop.com, because parksabers is slow to ship (and unethical IMHO).

For grips, Bubble strips/circuit boards, MPP shroud, ect... go to blast-tech.
Or for really accurate, yet pricey grips contact GINO here on the board.
Saberfreak also offers some grips, although not in the right color, they have a more accurate shape than blast-tech.

The Anakin AOTC saber was not a mpp it was a custom piece and was quite a bit smaller than an mpp. i got to hold a MR anakin and they are small.

bold added by me

I think he knows this already as do I.

Yeah,

I know the differences between the AOTC-"MPP" and the Vader MPP hilt.

I'm just looking for a quick way to fashion something that I wouldn't mind handling or putting out for public consumption. Trying to save some cash and at the same time get experience dealing with plastic and quick painting.

There's no way in heck I'd take my MR sabers out of the home! I spent way too much on those and consider those collectibles, NOT destructibles! :confused :eek

CustomSaber, it is then!

(Small voice: When I have the cash...!)

Keep checking the Junkyard graflex replicas and even vintage ones turn up fairly frequently or even post a WTB thread that's the route i would go.

The MPP shrouds have a pretty grainy, pebbled texture to them. Painting one silver would honestly look really bad in my opinion.

You can easily switch off shrouds, but if you're going to do that, I'd highly recommend puttying and then sanding smooth the one you plan to paint silver.

I knw they make a polyurethane copy of the MPP shroud... One of the sites has it available for sale.

I was thinking that one could be spray-painted after being degreased and sanded.

It honestly still has a "dimply" texture to to, though? Hmmm... Wasn't aware of that complication.

Putty, eh? I'll take your word for it. You guys are way more experienced at this than I am.

I just got a MPP flash from the custom saber shop, this was the first time I ordered from them. It arrived very fast it took about 4 days from the time I ordered it to get to my house. They pack well and have definitely gained me as a future consumer.

That's great to hear!

I'll definitely keep in mind when I have cash to order an MPP, myself!

(Custom Saber also sells the polyurethane MPP shroud which could be customized into an Anakin AOTC hilt.)

BTW, there a good source for the OWK ANH saber? That thing costs nearly an arm and a leg compared to everything else!

When Roman had the parts available, I figured a saber put together from his bits cost well over $300, probably over $370!

Other than the Parks version which is $225 separate from the infamous Saber Kit, is there good source for a reasonably accurate and reasonably priced version of this saber hilt?
