NECA 2009 $20 Jason Mask - Review

compared to that shot of the actual prop, if anything i think the NECA one has holes that are too big, but its a little hard to tell. Of course the red markings actually have a thin inset line outlining them, so if you repaint it, youd probably want to fill those guidelines.
 
its really sad that theyre trying to sell the same mask in a shadowbox for $150..
 
How's the paint on this compare to the real deal? I HATE the scuff alongside the nose. But it might be a fun repaint project for sure.
 
I wentto order one on Tru.com and they are $19.99.

BUT..

They wanted $19.80 to ship the thing. WTF.

Forget that. I will stop by my local one and see if they can let me know when they com in stock.

$19.80.. What are they thinking??? These things weigh 40 pounds?

I have the NECA Freddy v Jason mask/glove shadow box which I've always thought is a brilliantly designed display. At some point I need to Alclad the blades though.

My local TRU said they would not be stocking them, they felt they were not appropriate for the store so they did not order any. :unsure

Come Halloween they sell Jason, Freddy, Scream and all kinds of horror costumes and fake swords, axes and chainsaws with fake blood on them, but they squirm with these???

Nice, so apparently theyre only on stores whos managers felt them appropriate to sell, how nice.
 
Well I just heard back from my contact for NECA in the UK.
Apparently they have a large backstock of these as they were supposed to ship as a movie tie in for the remake to all TRU in the US.

The fact that a lot of managers of TRU stores wimped out over these has left a lot of the initial stock still lying there. keep an eye on places like Play.com and others for good deal soon.
And possibly expect to see less NECA fancy items on TRU shelves after this fiasco.

Anyway I'm off to my local Toys are us to pick up my Luke/Leia incest double pack and an Anakin figure with child murdering action.
