National Treasure 2 - "Booth's Derringer" BUILD! FINISHED!!!

It's been really interesting following this build, and you have done a great job! You're probably sick of the sight of this gun now, so feel free to post it my way.... ;)

Seriously, nice work! :thumbsup

My lord this is magnificent, I'm absolutely blown away!

Cheers for sharing and congratulations. Now all you need to do is make some resin replica's, they will sell like hotcakes!

Highest regards

Thanks guys! Much appreciated! I'm just glad it's finally finished! :D

Now, I'm thinking of making a Jack Sparrow Pirate Flintlock...:cool

RelicMaker:

I am astonished at your craftsmanship, particularly in the lids for the ball and cap containers on the butt. Well, not "particularly", since your work on the brass barrel bands around the nipple, the new plate on the left side of the stock, the ckeckering, and your provision for many other otherwise missing German silver ornaments is remarkable.

Thank you.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to build! I almost didn't add the ball and cap containers, but I knew I would have regretted it if I didn't... It turned out better than I had thought!:D

Hello RelicMaker,

I found your posts when googling for Booth build pics when I was working on my own. I've finally finished mine, too. I started with a Pedersoli Philadelphia Derringer kit that is about the right size of the real gun (about 2/3rds the size of your Philly kit). The stock butt wasn't the right shape and none of the brass inserts were correct either. So, I learned how to carve, file, and shape German silver to make better inserts. I relied on a professional metal engraver and wood checkerer to add the final touches, so I admire your skills in those areas. The buttcap insert gave me the most trouble, since there were no available pictures of what its engravings looked like, so I contacted Ford's theater to get close up pics of the "real deal". Unfortunately, I wasn't able or willing to craft a working capbox door, but the engraver outlined it. Here's my Booth pistol.

Very nice work! I'm glad others are making their own of this! It's a very fun project! :cool
