My The Amazing Spider-Man Costume replica

Hey guys, I know a lot of people are buying prints of people and making replica suits that way however, I can't really afford to pay for a full print so have bought an Amazing Spider-Man costume off amazon and also bought separate gloves and boot covers. I have already had the crappy Velcro the suit came with on the back replaced with an invisible zipper and have also already puffy painted the spider on the chest and some of the webbing. I have just finished painting my Asics and also have nearly half of the left glove finished with the red and black paint. I am using Tulip Puffy black, Tulip Slick deep red and Tulip Slick Navy Blue. I have just ordered some of TJack's amazing spiderman lenses and frames for my deluxe mask and also some of Markpoon's web shooters. I will post pictures pretty soon and feel free to give me any tips or advice whilst my suit is in the making :)

Sounds like a fun project, great enthusiasm! Will be nice to see pictures.

Interesting allocation of funds considering your stated budget concerns. Most people spend money on the suit first and upgrade the accessories later, but you've gone in the opposite direction. Real asics, Markpoon shooters, proper lenses, and the cost of the Amazon suit add up to at least as much as getting a good file printed. I'm interested to see how it comes together. As long as the suit fits well, all the detail work you're doing will look great. I've seen some people do really impressive ASM builds with cheap zentai suits as the base, so I'm sure the results of your project are intriguing.

The Asics I bought cheap off a friend as he didn't like them when they turned up and the suit cost me £40 delivered. The web shooters have been the most costly thing so far but I think this will be worth it when they arrive. The reason I am trying to do this cheap is because I am also in university and need money for other things so I couldn't really buy a print and also pay another lot of money for it to be tailored. Thanks for the support anyway :)

As promised here are a few pictures of what I have so far. I havent had time to take a picture of the chest spider yet so I will put up one I took a few weeks back

No worries, mate, I totally understand being a frugal student, I just graduated a few months ago myself.
My most recent spider suit cost around 85 quid to purchase the image file and get it dye sublimation printed and delivered, though as you said, then there's the cost of sewing. But you can get a suit sewn up for the cost of the webshooters alone.

Not kocking your approach in any way, of course, the progress on the puffy paint looks wondeful! This will be a great-looking project. I just meant to clarify that there's a difference between not being able to afford a print, and simply placing other priorities higher. Cheers.

hey guys today I finished the back of my left glove with the red and also the blue. It took me about an hour and a half to do 3 small sections of red in the bottom of the glove between the black webbing and the blue on the fingers and arm. here is a couple of pictures too. Once this is dry I will make a start on the other side of the glove around the palm detail and so on...

Hey guys i have been on holiday the past couple of weeks therefore have not made any more progress. I will begin making more progress pretty soon :)

What suit did you end up buying? The colors and details look great! I assume it's fairly thin and probably ill fitting, but I imagine with some tailoring this has a ton of potential. :) Looking forward to seeing more!

#hey man I bought an amazing spiderman costume off escapade.com. the smallest they had was a large which was a bit too baggy and i have had it tailored to fit a little bit better. the problem is that the suit had velcro on the back and there is no spider on the back either. i had the velcro taken off and a concealed zipper put in place. other than that the detail is pretty good

Quick update. I have not made as much progress as I had hoped with a family member passing away it caused me to question life altogether and lost all motivation for everything. I got myself into a pretty dark place for a while however I am back and more motivated than ever. I have made a fair bit of progress within the last few days. Sorry about your loss, I know how it feels :/

Glad you are returning back to it, it will end ip great with those painting skills :thumbsup

Honestly, this looks great regardless of the budget constraints. The thing I love about costuming and propmaking is that skill and dedication can trump deep pockets a lot of the time if you're willing to put in the sweat and do what most people would find easier to pay for.

Sorry for your loss, Calisis. Try to remember that you are not alone.

Thanks dude and i know i am never truly alone from certain experiences haha

ok guys another small update. I have finished off all the red honeycomb on the jump suit and have done all down the front right side and leg on the blue. I have also cut out a stencil in mountboard to put the spider on the back of the suit which is currently wet. i have also done all of the red honeycomb on one boot cover and am sat waiting for the glue to fix to the the shoe as i am typing this now. I have hoping to get it completely finished and battle ready for work tomorrow afternoon. Bit tight for time but im going to do my best. 1383135383130.jpg
