My sunday afternoon (Iron Man)

So I'm attempting to build an entire Iron Man suit as my first build. I have constructed 2 helemts but am not happy. So today I jumped on the hand and finished the pepakura. It took about 8 hours total for just the hand and fingers (everything that is show was done in the time limit). My question is, is this time limit normal for a pep build or are my hands ridiculously slow?

Dont mind the blue painters tape, thats just holding it together. :)

It really depends on how much experience you have had with this kind of thing. If you take a look at my thread, I pepped a much more complex hand 4 times and still haven't gotten it right. :facepalm

Keep at it. It can be extremely frustrating getting started when you see such great results, but those results will come. I was ready to give up on my suit a couple of days ago when I had my "EUREKA!" moment and it all started coming together.

The best advice I can give (which I eventually learned) is to be patient and take your time. Don't be afraid to think outside the box as well.

Good luck!

thanks! as this is my first time with any kind of props, i am extremly grateful for the advice. I am enjoying it so far. I have seen several styles of hand peps, the one i am doing is probably the easiest but not my fav. I'm going to keep trying and after fiberglassing it i'll post and hopefully some good advice will come! Thanks again! :)

I wish I could put a big sign up that says! "The helmet is probably the hardest piece!" "Wait till last or close to last to build." :facepalm
You so did the right thing by going to another part and working your way in! I started at the boots and it took 4 to get the right size and "the way I wanted it"... remember, this is or should be viewed (in my humble opinion)as a semi or very permanent object you are building, depending on what your goal is. You just need one really good one of each part!
Be patient and go slow!! You will succeed! I am still having frustrations, but persistance and like Morbid says, thinking outside the box helps too! I am no pro, but if I can help I will! It does get better LOL! sort of!:rolleyes
