i actually attempted my subligaria last night. i had an idea that didn't quite pan out. i took some regular ol' briefs and cut them down the sides to split the underwear and lay it out flat. i used that as a template/pattern. i never thought to factor in how stretchy underwear is and the cloth that i am using simply has no give at all. i couldn't get the damn thing to pull up past my knees lmao. tonight i'm going to try something else and if that fails i'll be off to the fabric store to get some different cloth

finished up the cloth bits yesterday.
i did a little trial and error type experimenting with the pattern that i posted in the original post. used the cloth that doesn't have any give because i knew i wasn't going to be using it for anything else.
it wound up being a pretty good way to refine the cut i wanted to make on the more expensive monk cloth ($22 a yard yikes! thank goodness for a midnight madness sale plus a stacking 50% off coupon). anywho i tossed the angled cut that the pattern calls for and went with a t shape cut which gives more coverage up front and on the sides of my thighs but still remains true to what you would see in the show.
there's a costume party at the local comic shop tomorrow i'm going to dress up and take some pictures to show you what i'm talking about. its going to be sort of a dress rehearsal for the big Halloween party i'm doing on the 29th

Any luck so far? I'm working with monk's cloth too. Yes, expensive. I dyed it a dark green with clothing dye, and I think I'm going to mess with that coffee suggestion to get some brown in. Aiming for the type from the last episode, as worn by Spartacus and Crixus. Like on the left in this screenshot.

Hey there, I am working on a Spartacus costume for this Halloween, didn't know if you were still working on this or not. Just looking for some advice on the loin cloth shaping and color.
