My ROTJ Luke Lightsaber project

Here is the start of my star wars return of the jedi luke's lightsaber project. I purchased this resin lightsaber a couple of months ago. I'm adding more details to accurize the light saber. I'll file down the mold lines on either side. I'll create a smaller triangular ring on the end (first attempt was using a coat hanger, too large). I'm going to file down the long round button on the light saber control box and replace it with the red and green buttons (thanks to Pastor Jedi). The two black buttons I'll scratch build from green stuff (epoxy sculpting material).

I'm having difficulties figuring out the small round knob piece on the emitter end of the light saber. Does anyone know what I could use for this piece (circled in the last picture)? As a last resort I`ll use a small piece of copper pipe.

Ryan.

OK.....nice cast...BUT!!!....it's a cast....if you want a decent, accurate Luke ROTJ, you need a machined blank as a starting point.
If you wish to proceed with the resin cast, i'd suggest aluminium tape for the metal parts.......

Um, also, that resin saber is so far from accurate, it's just not real......you'd get better results with a salvaged old torch!

Hi there,

Nice project. Also take a look at your emitter. It's a bit to big. You may want to take it apart and cut to size :

See red line. Also in my thread you can find al kinds of reference pictures in just 1 thread :

By the way the Luke ROTJ MoM was originally also a metal casting from a wooden master of
a Stunt Obi-Wan ANH complete with seamlines. The stunt version was a casting in resin and
could also be seen in the Magic of Myth exhibition catalogue.

Give it a go and enjoy the built,

did this go anywhere? I'm dying to find a resin ROTJ cast, and can't find any. I know this is Arsenal or coolmodels, the supposed recasters who made this, but still. were you able to cut up the emitter to make it work?

I've abandoned this project for now to try to find a more accurate saber. Currently working on R2D2 and finding parts for obi wan kenobi rots saber.

ah cool, good luck! copper pipe fittings and brass lamp tubing work great for obi was necks, especially ROTS necks, as it's really just a tube with extra bits of tube slid over it...

thanks for the update!

I'm guessing by that resin cast, that whoever made it, was missing the emitter. So they threw something together with PVC tubing or something. Not a bad saber, other than that. You could throw it on ebay or something, to fund a more accurate project.

Or just turn it into a custom;)
