My Ressikan Flute

here is my first attempt at Captain Picards Ressikan flute .
bought some brass and aluminum tubing did a bit of pounding and soldering and this is the result.
may take me some time to get to the next piece but at least you can see what I'm after.

Oh yeah this one works :D

I've seen the studio prop on this piece. I like yours better.
The one for the show was all aluminum and solid. The finger holes were just indents drilled in and painted black, no 'eyelets' around them. They didn't need a very detailed prop since it was supposed to be used in just one show, wound up in a couple though.

Like I said, though, I like yours much more.

Um I don't know what you saw but you didn't see the ressikan flute :confused At least not the hero one and there wasn't another one in the archive.

I didnt know they sold copy's In vegas.. :eek

There are a few differences between the one Im doing and the movie prop
Most of the differences will be toward the mouth piece as a working flute has to have the hole toward the top function as the whistle if you look at the prop it is different from mine because of this fact all working models will have this alteration. Im very pleased with the results so far they are a bit labor intensive as the flute is built in three separate pieces bonded together
the aluminum piece separates the two brass sections this made it easier to fabricate.
Im still working out the steel patterns to get the details a bit more crisp and then the next piece I build will I have to figure out how to tune it correctly.
but its a start.
and now that I have one done I think it will be possible to replicate them for you guys.
hope you like it

Hi Guys,
This is a really nice copy of the Ressikan Flute.
But none of the orginal props were able to be played they were all solid metal. There was no time to make them work. This prop had to be made in 4 day with changes and the custom box that went with it.
There were 2 flutes made for Next Gen. One for "Innerlite" and the secound for a latter ep. when they could not find the first one.
The org. was made by Bear Burge at I.S.S and then the second was also made by Bear at Prop'er Effects. All of the ones (15 of them) for the S.T. Exp. in Vagas were made by HMS.
The string is satin about 1/16 of an inch dia.
The body was solid brass.
The "eyelets" were machined alum. to fit each hole.

Hope this helps,

yeah see every time we get another person to weigh in on this prop we get another story.
Im convinced it was mainly built from brass but the video on the making of says it was aluminum.
what gives? :unsure
its amazing how one prop can have so many different opinions on its material and origin not to mention that now it seems that their are two of them.
Im just going to go on what I think would look best and easiest to make.
It would be great if some day I could see the thing for my self... but Im a bit too busy to go chasing around the country for a Flute.
thanks to everyone for the input :D
