Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Men in Black
Man, you just can't stop, can you?
Another great item :thumbsup
Thanks MB. Some things are hard to resist. Problem is, they look for me :lol
Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Very nice piece Alan. :thumbsup
Cheers bro :cool, much appreciated
That "On Display" picture is like a Where's Wally ( maybe Waldo elsewhere in the world) picture. Took me a while to find it.
Now
that is the whole point of my set-up :thumbsup. I myself spend hours on end in that room. It's not just about collecting, but also about enjoying looking / taking all that in ... and playing with them :lol Takes me those hours to go through the stuff visually and picking them up etc (must admit, a few 'pew-peews' are also involved with spaceships etc :lol)
Great piece, Alan! But your collection becomes so big, that the great pieces (like this one) are a bit lost in the "not that great" pieces (like the figurines, model cars, etc...). Don't you consider having a kind of "throphee" display with only great prop replica's, like the neuralyzer, the golden gun, etc...?
depends on how long you are collecting... One day you will look at all this stuff and think: Man, thats too much sensless stuff...
I got rid of all these fanbased stuff from Indiana Jones, BTTF, etc. which not takes place in the movie and so I concentrate more on main stuff...
I give it up years ago to collect figures and all these stuff...
But the Neuralizer is cool... Yes, I would say, I'm jealous... :lol
Thanks Tom & OS
About 'not so great' pieces, that, mon ami, is in the eye of the beholder

.
If you go through all the posts I have made in this thread (kidding, don't :lol !) I have opened boxes containing a $10 figure, with the same enthusiasm, passion, subsequent squeal of joy :lol, photographed and displayed it, on the same level that I have with a box containing, for example, the Neuralyzer.
I genuinely love each and every single bit as much as I do them all. Yes, of course, some items I love more than others,
but, those 'favourite' items also include cheap figure and say a golden gun.
The 'distance' of 'love' between my favourites and the rest, in my eyes, is not sufficiently large to warrant a 'separate section' for them though.
No senseless stuff here either :lol
My passion is Movie Memorabilia.
Props, and
anything I like that reminds me or evokes an emotional response from a movie I am fond of is a welcome, appreciated and cherished piece of my collection
Also, any item can be of any size for me, and I'm just as happy. 1:1 is not a must. There are so many little things I have that are either not made 1:1, or are way too expensive, or just too big to display, so those things cover that void for me. I now have it, I can see it, it reminds me of what I wanted to be reminded of ...... so I am happy
And lets not go into the 'close-enoughs' arena. I really don't care if something is not 200% spot-on either :lol As I always say, if I recognise it, that's good enough for me
Trust me, you will likely never see me get rid of anything I have in there :lol
Now, if you ever see me putting stuff in that room that is not connected in some way to movies, rest assured the Mrs will be the first to put me in a straight jacket & cart me off :lol
I love the different ways people display their stuff.
Mine tend to be more spread out and separated into themes, but in this case I love searching Alan's big glass case because I always find something new. It's a blast to study and just a gorgeous collection. When you look at my props they are just there. Nothing to search. You can look at Alan's case or whole room for a while and then see something new.
I have my prop displays all planned out and once they are done I will leave them for a few years, but I am already thinking about Phase II where I rearrange them.
Thanks Tom, that's my line of thinking, and exactly what I do on a daily basis
If I ever get too 'bored' of how things are displayed, imagine, I could rearrange
everything in different places, and spend months just getting used to the new layout and rediscovering things all over again :lol
Adam knows what I talking about
