My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival : The Godfather

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - In The Line Of Fire & Captain America

uh, ok... sorry, I dont want to look up every word in the web...

Oh, believe me, what I learned with this hobby: Its all about money... :)

I collect for 6 years now... And my collection is not as big as I wish... And sometimes it happens, there comes someone along, register in the RPF, and start to collect. He builds up a bigger and better collection, than Ive ever seen, of course with all the nice stuff I can't afford, things over the grand sum of $1000.

Some months ago, in our german board someone told us he wants to have a Indy collection. We all wished him good luck. In 3 months he got everything, Ive collected for 5 years... :wacko

Crazy... Maybe you can save a lot if you have the skills to do anything by yourself (and if other people interested you can earn some money too, if you decide to do runs). So maybe its not ALL about money, but much...

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - In The Line Of Fire & Captain America

Nice additions.

My first thought on the gun parts was " They wil look great painted', it was not until I saw the screen shot that I realised they are meant to be plain white :)

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - In The Line Of Fire & Captain America

Holy s**t Alan :eek

What a great arrangement of stuff!!!!

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - In The Line Of Fire & Captain America

Nice In The Line Of Fire replica.. I was going to bid on one recently, but wasn't sure whether they will allow it into Australia..

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - In The Line Of Fire & Captain America

Thank you Markus and Troy :) :thumbsup

Yeah Troy, I saw that auction, and even contacted the seller. I decided not to bid on it when he told me that he wanted $220 IIRC for it, and if the auction wasn't going that way, he'd pull it. And he did pull it.

And I think it would have gotten through. It came disassembled and its made of resin. The only significant metal parts are the dummy bullets.

EDIT - First half-dozen pics in Post #1 (overall view) updated.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Taxidermy 101 / ITLOF

It was a sin to have Steve's replica of Mitch Leary's pistol used 'In the Line of Fire' without the bullet 'holder' aka hollow Rabbit's Foot.

WARNING : Those who get :sick, DON'T click the spoiler tag :lol

So enter one set of screen-accurate Rabbit Feet which I spent days scouring for till the ones with the right shape, colour, correct metal top, correct chain etc showed up.

And this is what my hobby drill had to contend with :sick

After alot of .... well, 'interesting' sights and aromas, this is the result :)

There followed a few days of alot of disinfecting and perfuming before putting it on display :lol

But hey, can it get more screen-accurate than that ? :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - ITLOF (Taxidermy 101)

I had NO idea that they used REAL rabbit's feet for those! CRAZY!

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - ITLOF (Taxidermy 101)

Really? Really? Real rabbits feet? I too had no idea. But I love the gun that's very very cool!

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - ITLOF (Taxidermy 101)

Alan, nobody could ever accuse you of not being ''dedicated'' to the hobby after seeing the nauseating lengths that you'll go through for the sake of ''screen accuracy''. :lol Kudos to you, man! :thumbsup

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - ITLOF (Taxidermy 101)

Yeah, this must be the most genuine replica I have :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - NP 6 Million Dollar Man .. & a story

When I was very young in the early to mid 70's, my country, Malta, was not exactly that 'advanced'.

Having gained independence as a British colony not so long before that time, the country was still struggling to walk on its own.

The then government of the time was socialist, workers for the workers yada yada yada yada.

Amongst the main policies was a severe restriction of imports etc etc, measures all aimed at getting the economy kick-started.

Anyways, no politics here, just a back-ground as to the environment I grew up in.

Toys and the likes were limited in choice, but we all grew up happy with what we had ...... because we were oblivious to the fact that other things existed :lol

Long story short, an American family moved into the area, with a son my age, and we became friends. His dad used to work on an oil rig off North Africa, and he based his family in Malta during his contract.

I used to go to his house very often to play, and when the guy (Terry IIRC) used to get his toys out, it was like magic ! Things I had never seen or even heard of before, came out of that cupboard like a scene out of Mary Poppins.

He had one toy that had me in absolute awe : A 6 Million Dollar Man Action Figure, AND a Transport Repair Station. (I didn't even know what it was exactly, as the show didn't hit the local TV till the late 70's :confused.)

That fracking bastid however, :lol, seeing that I liked it so much, limited its 'out of the cupboard time', and no matter how much I asked him to take it out, it seemed like he used to take some sort of sadistic pleasure in watching me ask :cry

Yeah, a childhood psychological trauma 101 case :lol

Fast (alot)- forward to the internet age :love , and I've had a daily search programmed on eBay like for the past 5 or 6 years.

Since they are vintage toys, the prices for one in relatively good condition are STUPID :wacko, and the 'cheaper' ones are too shocked to s**t to bother with, figure and station sold separate etc etc.

I didn't want one 'at all costs' though (not THAT traumatised :lol), and I'm not into that kind of collecting. So I waited, and waited .... and waited.

Till a couple of weeks ago, bingo ! Acceptable condition, all parts present, figure AND station together, documents etc..... and with a BIN !

Just delivered, and here it is, after I've been messing with it for an hour and almost gone blind from looking through his fish-eye lens like an idiot :lol

And from Back to the Future II ......... hang on a sec, let's start with what almost made me **** my pants first :lol

I got the box from Brad (Jedifyfe) yesterday while I was stringing up the harp, and left it unopened while I dealt with the strings boinging out of place all the time :lol.

During a small break waiting for the glue to dry, I opened the box ..... and THIS is the first thing there was

I sent Brad a rather lengthy thank you PM :lol, but here it goes again : THANKS Brad, I'll really treasure this !!

...... and in the box, this beautiful set of Bottles made by Gary.

Keeps getting better! Love the BTTF soda bottles

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - BTTF & Star Trek

You are totally welcome Alan. I knew you would enjoy the pin. That was the pin that was given to me at the NIKE event in LA. As well as those are the bottles that I rented to NIKE for the event. So technically they were displayed in the Cafe 80's.

I will email you the photo's of them displayed at the event.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Harry Potter

Though I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I just had to have Rhett's (Hotshot) Skele-Gro bottle, from The Chamber of Secrets !

It shows that alot of work went into this not-easy-at-all replica to make, and it is fabulous in its rustic appearance. It looks unique.

Overall, very, very, very pleased.

Thanks Rhett :) :thumbsup :thumbsup
