Nice prop day today

I never really liked the Helicopter from Avatar just 'hanging' there, so I got a nice background for it, which was delivered this afternoon.

Made a frame (yep, a frame :lol) for it out of some garden bamboo sticks, and now the chopper is flanked by the blue kiteeeeeh.

I think the wall is slowly coming together now

I am :confused Agh, mostly paper props though I think ... but in frames :lol

Or you could get a working "flat-space dimensional compression technology" prop from ultraviolet. Then no worries! :love

yes, Alan...I am happy the SG1 Stargate staff arrived...I took extra care in painting it up for you, and I see you assembled the three pieces nicely...I am busy painting up a few more for other SG1 stargate fans too. they are nice pieces to work on, it really complements your collection nicely.

No story at all really. I 'designed' it and had it custom made some years ago to display prop replicas. (Wish I had made it 3 times larger though :lol)

Last night, Howlrunner provided the board with a wonderful copy of Jack Sparrow's Map from POTC, OST, which includes the Fountain of Youth part.

And what did I do ?

What else :lol

A couple of hours later this morning, I started feeling 'guilty' that I 'got it so easy' off Howlrunner's back :confused , so I decided it needed SOME effort on my part :lol


The original prop Map was placed on slabs of wood, and was rolled up to carry. A quick guesstimate from looking at the prop, and I calculated roughly 12 'slabs'.

So cut up some wood

Carved and sanded them to shape

Some wood stain

Et voila, one Jack Sparrow rolled up Map.

Much worthier to be displayed now

The original Prop Map, currently on display at the "El Capitan" Theatre in Hollywood till 22 June.
