My personal Lightsaber

Hello people, I have a question about my personal lightsaber.
As a member of yourprops.com I can see how many hits there are on my props, the prop that is getting the most hits is my fictional lightsaber( The PropCeeper’s Lightsaber)

I don’t understand, what is so special about this lightsaber ?

A few details about the construction,

I’ve used a metal galvanized tube with a curve in it as a base to work on, the curve is inspired from the Dooku lightsaber.
The blade emitter and the activation section (black part red button) came from the same flashgun type that was used to create Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber in the Star Wars Holiday Special. The black handgrip is from a car window wiper, inspired on the Luke and Vader sabers in the trilogy.
Also used a small part from a door closing mechanism, same part they used on the Vader sabers.
The rest of the parts I’ve used are small metal and plastic parts from different machines/items, the blue blade is the end of a mr fx lightsaber put into my hilt.

For a fan custom, this one is one of the best I've seen. I would suspect that and the fact that it just looks OT, is why you get alot of hits on this one. Nice job.

Dave :)

Thanks a lot guys:thumbsup
It's funny, it didn't take me a lot of effort to build this saber, 2 hours max, build from material/item leftovers.

Nice job! I think that hand-built aspect really comes through, and gives it a superb OT-vibe.

Thanks for sharing the pics; I always love seeing custom sabers. :cool

You get a lot of hits because the saber looks original and was well executed. It doesn't look cobbled together. Heck, it doesn't look like a "hardware" saber, even though that's essentially what it is.

It's a nice design, and kudos to you for getting it lit up as well.

My guess is it appeals to more people because it appears to have design elements from both the Original and Prequel Trilogies; the best of both worlds in one prop. The simpler answer is it looks cool and it's very unique. Very well done Robbie!

Many thanks folks for all the nice comments, my goal on this saber was to capture the spirit of the original Star Wars Trilogy, old school style. Mission accomplished I would say.

Here is a comparesment shot between a MR FX lightsaber and my design, the tube on the bottom is a original HR flashtube. (I’m not sure if this HR tube is the same model they used on the Vader sabers)

Absolutely great custom saber. Very well done. The only problem I have with it is the endcap. Something about it is throwing me off visually. It's certainly the only thing I'd change.
Great job.

I agree, the black endcap is a thing I got to change, it doesn’t look good on the total design of the saber.
At first the endcap bubble was a silver color with a black ring and a black screw in the middle, I think you could imagine what it looked like.:lol

I was looking around in my junkyard and I found two interesting parts, they both came from RC nitro engines. I think that the small silver header match perfect on the design of the saber, it also gifs me the opportunity to attach a beltring on the end. I think that this new endcap brings the saber into balance, what do you guys think ?

I also think the silver piece is the best choice, blue header is also a cool piece, but not for this lightsaber. I’m gonna work on it right away!

Thanks :thumbsup

Much better!

I agree...way better! The other end looked a little like it could have been a part of Vader we should not see. ;)

:lol
Thanks guys !

I’ve replaced the endcap and it looks great, much better then the first one !
The beltring is under construction, I also removed the T grips because they where too short, I’m going to extend the new T grips a little more to the back of the hilt, I think it looks better that way.
