I picked these up at a local Target this weekend, built some display stands and thought I'd take some pics. I painted the blue phaser nozzle a silver chrome, and that's about all the mods I've done for now. Until I see the movie, I don't want to mod them too much. I do want to get rid of the screws on the left side of the phaser though.

Anyway, enjoy! :)

Nice. I like the phaser/communicator stand. Maybe you could mod it further and have the tricorder rest standing behind the comm? :)

Your as always the master of pics, they look great, love the stands! I was just playng with the comm and love how they used a actuall reed switch for the chirp, if some resin kits come out it would be easy to just gut one of the toys and install electronics!

Thanks guys! :)

I was kind of torn between displaying them or not. It seems strange to display these "cheap" toys next to a MR, Coyle, Dstines, etc. But when that is all you can get your hands on, then you have to work with what you have. I can't wait to find a nice replica that is plated to mach the original.

As far as a run of display stands, I'll have to think about it. With a new baby, I don't have much time to kill in the shop.

Thanks for the great pictures. I've been waiting to see some really good pictures of these things.

Wow, those make them look like more than toys! On the Tricorder, is it roughly the same size as the communicator?

And why on Earth does it have "TRICORDER" on it? Like the crew won't know what it is?:lol

No, the Tricorder is larger, but is still pretty small. I think the Communicator is too small compared to the pics of the original one floating around somewhere. I think the comm is my favorite though.

Here are some more pics:

What he said but tricorder set at an angle, so its not hidden.

I'll have to play around with that sometime, good idea guys!

I am mainly a TOS collector and that tricorder is too large to fit, so I ever thought about it. My display shelves are more rectangular, so I like to space the props out so they don't look too bare or too cluttered.

Right now my ST XI shelf looks pretty bare. I need some more props to go on there. I'm thinking about getting a pepper mill and making that McCoy prop out of it. Anyone have any other props, like a PADD that they've seen yet?

Just stopped by Target to see if they had these in yet. They had everything, although the figures were pretty picked over.

I like the looks of the equipment in person, but the phaser reminds me just a tad of those loud and blinky laser guns you see in dollar stores.

And THAT my friends is the biggest problem with that phaser. I mean, seriously. CHROME?! :angry Black, grey, BLUE...anything but chrome.

i bought the phaser. The tricorder seems so small. ANy one know if teh sceen used is bigger. This size reminds me of teh old playmates TOS tricorder tehy did long ago ...it was so darn small aslo!

Someone who saw the film said in another thread that the new tricorder is really small and "fit in the palm of Kirk's hand." So the toy may be about the right size.

I agree, it IS small. The communicator seems small too. Especially to the pics that were on display of the real props. Playmates isn't known for making very accurate toys. I hope someone will be able to produce a much nicer set for us. hint....hint....
