I ordered my wig and it should be here in a week or so, the beads are close but i might switch some of them out. The bandanna is also off.

Talked to my grandpa and he is getting me a leg bone from a deer, so i will carve that into the bone marlinspike, unfortunately Jacks is a reindeer marlinspike but a deer one will do.

I will be starting to make my tricorn hat after I move on the 29th, if anyone has any suggestions on the best kind of leather i should use that would help a lot.

Working on the wig, undoing the dreads that are there and making them wider and more screen accurate.

My grandpa was awesome enough to get me two deer shinbones or something close. And I am working on carving one into the Sail needle from Jacks wig. (ooo did that bone smell for a bit lol)

I went to tandy leather and got a roll of tooling leather, dye needles and the fork thing. And as soon as I can find a decent bowl for my head I will start on that. Ran me about $140 for all the tricorn materials.

More pics soon...

I ordering my boots as well soon

This looks great, I've got a princesses and pirates day at my daughters school in June, so have decided to make my own JS costume for this.

Keep up the good work, I shall enjoy watching your progress

Thanks and good luck with the P&P day at your daughters school. I look forward to seeing your build.

Re: My Jack Sparrow OST costume thread. (just got boots!!)

Letting the leather harden and dry have to get more clips for the edging. Sewing that on took forever!! :p

JUST GOT MY BOOTS! :) like 10 min ago so ignore the monty python pjs haha I was excited to try them on. Not the best ones but great for my price range. Paid about $122 including S&H

Re: My Jack Sparrow OST costume thread. (update on tri-corn)

In the process of shaping my tri-corn but it seems to be to big, even with the wig and all on.

So I had enough leather left and took off a few inches and have to redo the whole thing before I attach the crown to it since I only had enough leather for one crown.
Thoughts? does it look to big?

I can't tell the brim width unless you photograph it with a ruler but I think you may want to take that down an inch or so. What is the width?

You'd be surprised that this particular measurement is key to the size of the hat as it sits on your noggin.

Also did you measure your circumference of your head with the wig and bandana ON so the inside diameter of the bowl will be the correct size too?

Also the depth perspective of your photo doesn't give the true feeling of the dimensions. Photograph it from the top with rulers on the top and side.

Its about 20inches wide at from corner to corner (all three), the bowl part is perfect for my wig bandanna and all.

And this one kind of gives a better look as to how big it really is..

But I have started a smaller one and taking it down about 2inches

Hat remade, smaller, about 15inch from point to point.
Waiting for it to harden then I will dye.

Thanks, its turning out really nice and a lot better than the first one I did that was to big.

Still working on getting the shape perfect but I did attach the crown piece.
